Opinions on these sapphires

I'm debating between these 3 sapphires for a center stone for my engagement ring. Thoughts on quality? I like the violet/purple stones that change colors in different light, but I also like the light blue sapphire. Thanks in advance!

Overall, I like the color and cut of the first sapphire best. All three are pretty though. The third looks kind of silly from the pictures, but the colors are nice.

I like the first one best, but it depends on the color you're wanting. The person who runs Earth's Treasury cuts a very lovely stone. Keep in mind that Montana sapphires are notorious for going very gray, and both of the ones you linked to have a substantial amount of gray to begin with that will likely only get worse. Of course, if you like gray then that's no problem. Whichever one you choose, make note of the return policy and view the stone in all sorts of lighting when you receive it to make sure you love it and the way it changes! Keep us updated on what you decide and congrats on your engagement!!

Ahh hmm, I didn't know that about Montana sapphires, that's good to know. I'm not sure I really want a gray stone, at least not at that price-point. I'm leaning more towards violet/purple or lighter blues. I've been emailing Jeff at Earth's Treasury and he's been very nice and does have a 7 day return policy If i bought the stone and didn't like it. There is another darker violet/blue stone on Gemfix that looks quite nice too.

To me, the gemfix stone is less attractive or at least seems so on the photos (though gemfix normally makes nice images), and the prices would say the same.

I'd prefer the robins' egg color.

Of those 3 you posted, I much prefer the GemFix stone.

As already posted above, the two Montana sapphires have a substantial grey component and will not show as violet/blue or even light blue, but as a silvery lilac and a grey-blue in most lighting conditions. And, I think the "robin's egg" Montana will not be eye-clean and that you will be able to see the feathers easily most of the time.

I also like the gemfix one because it is the most vibrant with the leas amount of grey.

I prefer the gemfix stone, but I am not a fan of Montana sapphires in general, so take what I say with the proverbial grain of salt.

I vote for the robin's egg blue Montana sapphire. The Gemfix one has less grey, but I find the shape not as nice, ( just my preference).

I'm so sorry, I meant that the Gemfix sapphire looked "silky", not "silly".

Have you looked at the etsy shop Saphhirepalaustralia? I have no experience with them, but they have a huge variety of sapphire colors.

I just got a 2.5 ct violet stone from Earth Treausury. I can second how amazing the cut is. It's A Ceylon stone not Montana. IMG_9180.JPGIMG_9171.JPGIMG_9170.JPGIMG_9173.JPG

Gorgeous!!! I literally just ordered a sapphire from him! I looked at other sites but I can't stop looking at his gems, his cuts are amazing. Of course I didn't order any of the stones that I linked above, but I did order a Montana sapphire, but we'll see what it looks like when I get it. It doesn't look like it'll pull a lot of gray.

I was actually reading your thread earlier for suggestions for stones

Share pics please!

Need to see closer. Can you make a close-up photo?

My color preference is for the second stone. Are you looking for any specific shape? I agree with the others though, that the Montana sapphires can often look grayer in real life. You might want to watch some videos if you haven't already.

Did you see this one? It has a really unique cut. It's on the lighter blue side but won't have they grey tones the Montana sapphires will.

So here's the gem I bought.

And here are my pics. It's gorgeous and very sparkly in sunlight. It's perhaps a little on the small side, which is the only issue I have with it, but I was thinking about putting it in a halo setting anyway.
