Opinions on this emerald?

I recently ordered a sapphire, but then saw this beauty and am considering sending the sapphire back. Thoughts on it? I have never purchased an emerald before.

This is going to have a really nice green glow, but no sparkle. Emerald cuts are not about the sparkle. I'd personally want a more saturated blue-green and better crystal clarity, but that's personal preference.

@voce I never expected sparkle from an emerald—I’m all about the glow! I also find that an attractive size for the price. But if there are any obvious flaws or problems with the cut, or anything else I’m not seeing, of course I’d like to know about them. I usually try to educate myself a lot before buying a gem, but looks like this sale is ending soon and I can use all the expert advice I can get.

Its very pretty and I also love the glow. However, let me ask are you looking for a emerald that has no treatments or are you ok with it? I'd ask Dana to be sure but likely assume some minor to moderate treatment.

I think no obvious problems with the cut. It has been clarity treated, as are almost all emeralds. With emeralds what some see as faults, lack of clarity others see as a natural jardin. I'm not an expert on emerald...I only own tiny melee size emeralds, but I get the feeling as an enthusiast/connoisseur consumer that emeralds are way more difficult to give a "value" for because it's not easy to put a number on the way the crystal looks.

I like the glow of emeralds but this one is very included. Are you all right with that? It’s also much lighter.

It's very light, and a long way from trade "ideal" color.

I really love the color. To me that lighter green color with a bit of blue is one of the classic emerald colors. I looked through his emeralds online and that particular one is one of my favorites. It’s about what you like and what you’re looking for.

I think for me, an ideal would be a compromise between glow and clarity. Sparkle is probably a misleading word for emeralds. This one has amazing glow, but I would miss the ability to see the facets gleam and light up as I turn it. Do you know what I mean?

The glow is nice but it doesn't look gemmy enough to me at that pricepoint.

I love the glow and don't care much about clarity in an emerald so that's my take on it. I personally think the colour is fabulous!

Ha, nope! I guess it wasn't meant to be! Which is probably for the best--I need to learn more and make an informed purchase when the time is right. I learned a lot just from this thread. Thanks everyone Looking forward to showing off my sapphire when she's here!
