opinions on this setting

I still haven't seen too many octagons in a setting but I would like opinions on how you think this one would look with my stone. I am wanting to halo this amethyst. If you have another idea please share a link. Thanks!!!!

This is a very personal reaction, so YMMV. The clipped corners of the square halo would drive me crazy with the octagon set in it, as the shapes would be similar but the proportions different (both are 8 sided but one has equal sides and the other doesn't).

I think finding a stock halo for this stone is going to be hard! I would try a round halo, instead of the squarish one.

I love that setting, and I think your stone would look great in there. I think I would request double prongs though.

This one is more of a true octagon but with a larger price tag.
