I have this stone coming to me - it's a gift for my mom, and she fell in love with it in the video on the Westview site. Can the experts here take a look and tell me what you think honestly? It will be here Wednesday -

It's a nice size for a ring. Does she like halos?

We have a setting for it. She had to sell her oval center stone for financial reasons, but we can't seem to sell the setting unfortunately, and scrap value is... not good. (It's a beautiful setting - pics do it no justice) She loves the setting, though, so I thought I'd set a colored stone in it for her and surprise her with it for Christmas. I showed her a few stones I thought were nice, and she fell in love with this one, saying it reminds her of the lakes in Minnesota. :)

Here's the setting:

Please double check that the stone will fit the setting.

Depth: the diamond looks to sit extremely low into the setting
Diamond 3.28 mm vs Sapphire 5 mm.

Width:
Diamond 6.23 mm vs Sapphire 6.7 mm

Length: Not sure what will fit securely.

Good Old Gold has the setting now. I have been in contact with David, and he looked at this sapphire's measurements and said it should fit nicely (the setting was actually for a 1ct round).

Do you think the sapphire itself looks good, chrono?

Good is relative. It all depends on the colour you are looking for. I have no idea what is the colour of Minnesota lakes...

Does the cut look ok?

As precision cut as it can possibly get.

It says cornflower blue in the description, but I don't think this is what most people have in mind for that shade, going by the video and the photos. At least not on my monitor.

Do take photos of the stone IRL when you get it.

Of course! I'll take plenty of pics - I'm excited to see it!

What a sweet gift for your mom. :kiss2:
Though I wouldn't consider it cornflower blue, it's a nice color and, most importantly, your mom fell in love with it. It's also cut well. I hope she loves it in person. I can't wait to hear more on this. :D

Love it! What an amazing gift!!!

Usually when you view Montana sapphires you see at least a bit of grey and this sapphire is no exception. With that said, I personally like the stone both in color and saturation as I like some grey with my blue. The cut is very nice as well. I think if your jeweler can make the setting work it will be a beautiful ring and made more special by the sentiment.

I think it is beautiful, I love the color and shape!

In my opinion it looks wonderful

I got it! It's beautiful - the color is a lovely greyed blue, just like the video, and no green as it appeared in the vendor photos. I'm very happy with it, and will be sending it on to the jeweler to make sure it fits in my mom's setting. In the meantime I took pics - these are the best of the bunch and I feel show the color the most realistically (on my monitor).

Gorgeous

I love the setting and the new stone. Such a thoughtful idea!

Beautiful stone and setting!!!

It's just perfect in my opinion. The color is beautifully seasoned in a way that looks dreamy but solidly mature and wise. It has that mysterious quality in the darker blue grey that goes with a woman who is a mother and has lived life, created so much and gained wisdom. I hope that you tell us about her response when she gets it! You are awesome for doing this for her.
