As I was saying to Cehrabehra yesterday in her ''fell for a color'' thread, this shape of stone looks lovely in a simple bezel setting. I had the stone set into a ring with a thin yellow gold bezel, a backing of pure silver to reflect back the light, and a brushed band of sterling. I''m wearing it in this direction because the shiller in the stone looks a bit better to me from this side. And, watching the shiller is a lot of the fun. The jeweler is Janishjewels on etsy. I use her for simple bezels like this because it is a specialty of hers and her work is stunning.
I love ruby with high carat yellow gold. Definitely the way to go. Hope the project goes well.Date: 5/9/2010 10:43:16 PM

I''m very stoked she does 22ct gold since the first thing I''m sending to her is a ruby cab. I''m still in the beginning stages with her, so will for sure post pics when it all said and done.

Thanks flygirl I''ll find out in a couple weeks! I keep telling myself had I sent it here to China I may never have gotten it at all let alone in 2 weeks so this is still the faster route lol
Thank you, Chrono. I think the inclusions make this gemstone. I did purchase an orange-red faceted sunstone from them as well. Vendor photo is attached. It is awfully pretty, but I''m not quite sure how to use it. I really prefer the shiller in my cabochon ring to this stone. I was thinking I might set it as a ring anyways.Date: 5/10/2010 11:35:14 AM

The cabochon and its ring setting is so cool! Not to mention the schiller and neat inclusions in the briolettes.
Hi - The return address on the package is a PO Box in Portland. It may be that the mine is in Medford, and that is what I''m remembering.Date: 5/10/2010 9:07:36 PM

Flygirl, I live in Medford and can''t find a listing for Rogue Lapidary. Is that the full name? Would love to drop in and look at their sunstone. Thanks.
Thank you, Sarahbear. Such a sweet thing to say.Date: 5/10/2010 9:56:19 PM
