As I was saying to Cehrabehra yesterday in her ''fell for a color'' thread, this shape of stone looks lovely in a simple bezel setting. I had the stone set into a ring with a thin yellow gold bezel, a backing of pure silver to reflect back the light, and a brushed band of sterling. I''m wearing it in this direction because the shiller in the stone looks a bit better to me from this side. And, watching the shiller is a lot of the fun. The jeweler is Janishjewels on etsy. I use her for simple bezels like this because it is a specialty of hers and her work is stunning.

Great ring Flygirl! Love your sunstone. Jill set a piece of turquoise in 22k for me recently. Love bezels and cabs!

Cehra, the bezel on the ring is about 3 mm high, but remember there is a bit of backing metal as well. Hopefully, the back of your cab is fairly flat, because it is my understanding those are easier to set.

I love ruby with high carat yellow gold. Definitely the way to go. Hope the project goes well.

Thank you, Chrono. I think the inclusions make this gemstone. I did purchase an orange-red faceted sunstone from them as well. Vendor photo is attached. It is awfully pretty, but I''m not quite sure how to use it. I really prefer the shiller in my cabochon ring to this stone. I was thinking I might set it as a ring anyways.

Hi - The return address on the package is a PO Box in Portland. It may be that the mine is in Medford, and that is what I''m remembering.
