OT Poll: What is your favorite household chore?

I LOVE to do laundry! I just went home for lunch (I work a block away from home) to put away stacks of freshly laundered clothes that I did last night, and I''m in total bliss, because I have fresh clothes for the week.

I usually start laundry at about 9PM on Sundays becaue that''s when the kids go to sleep. Then I sort the laundry, wash, and fold until I collapse. I do about 5-6 huge loads.

Luckily for me laundry and cooking are my only household duties. My husband and bi-weekly cleaning service takes care of the rest.

When I asked my husband what he liked to do best, he said he liked mopping and swiffering our wood floors because he likes them squeaky clean (he mops at least once a day).

Me too!

My FI loves to swiffer the hardwood floors and clean it with some type of hardwork cleaner. He''s a bit OCD about the silly floors.

Ok I don''t really have a favorite CHORE, but if I had to choose something to do to clean the house it''d be cleaning the tile floors in the kitchen and entry...they feel so sinfully slippery smooth when they are clean.

Or wait does gardening count as a chore? If so, that''s obviously my fave.

I love doing the weeding. Of course, I have to wear gloves because spiders make me go ''eeeeek''. We have a fairly big front and back yard and the weeds are going absolutely beserk right now with spring weather and quite a bit of rain. We have a lot of spring bulbs growing out the ground right now, and I have absolutely no idea what they are because they haven''t flowered yet.

I don''t mind doing any household chore as long as I can watch tv (ironing) or listen to the radio/mp3 player (bathroom, mopping, dusting, laundry) Which is why I can''t stand doing the vaccuming - the noise of the stupid machine blocks out any music.

Luckily, we have now hired a cleaner. No more cleaning the showers, mopping the floors, vacuuming, dusting, etc - yippeeeeee!!

I like to do that too, then poof, the house smells fresh & clean.

I dont have a favourite, but I guess what I end up doing the most of is cooking & dishes. If I get completely fed up with the black lint from my husbands socks all over the bedroom carpet, I''ll tell him off, then go vacuum it.

You know how it is, or else it wont get done.

I like doing laundry; it feels so productive. What I don''t like so much, nor do I do very well, is fold the clothes and put them away once they are clean!!

I abhor anything involving cleaning. ANYthing. I just hate it. Dusting, mopping, vacumming...blech. Laundry''s okay, but mostly because it involves 5 seconds of work and then waiting for the machine to finish. But I don''t actually LIKE doing it.

My favorite thing to do, which isn''t really a chore, is to BAKE. I loooooove baking things. Muffins, quickbreads, cakes...I''ll do that while hubby cleans up.

I love to Swiffer our hardwood floors and dust the house. I love the way it feels and looks when the house is not dusty. Oh, and I''m with Ame. I love to Febreeze, esp the curtains.

I love to Iron ! When guests are coming, I even iron the pillow cases, sometimes the sheets if I have time.

And I love to bake also!!

But I hate making a salad.......go figure.

Gosh, call me crazy but I love all kinds of cleaning. I always make the bed because I can''t stand the idea of getting into an unmade bed. I love doing laundry, washing dishes(even though we have a dishwasher), cleaning the bathroom, dusting, vacuuming, etc. I think it''s an instant gratification thing. I love the satisfaction of seeing the dirt go away. Makes me feel very productive. I say this now when it''s just the 2 of us living in a small apartment but I reserve the right to change my mind at any time if my living situation changes!!!

Washing the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen. Other than that just puttering around the house and doing odd jobs.

Here is my favorite Sunday cleaning routine:

While the first load of laundry is washing, I vacuum.
While the second load is washing and the first is drying, I completely clean the kitchen counters and stove top.
After I fold the first load, the second is drying and the third is washing, I clean the bathrooms.
Second load is folded, third is drying and fourth is washing, I sweep the kitchen, and bathroom floors.
Third is folded, fourth is drying and fifth is washing, I start putting laundry away.

In the afternoon I grocery shop and fill the fridge.

When it is all said and done, we have a perfectly clean house, an armoire full of clean laundry and fresh towels and sheets and food for the week. That is my favorite end to the week. If I am being extra productive I lay clothes out for Monday and make a lunch to take.

(meanwhile, D mows, waters, rakes, sweeps and does all the "manly" stuff outside- we''re a perfect combo of OCD

this is a tough one, I don't really like any household chore, I have two modes; slob or super anal cleaning nazi...wish I could find a balance~

but I would have to say grocery shopping and cooking...I like to cook and entertain, but hate hate hate cleaning afterwards, before or during. My least favorite chore is putting my clothes away, they always find themselves everywhere but in the closet and eventually avalanche onto the floor

Actually, I would like to change my post...

My all time favorite house-hold chore is cleaning my diamond ring! There is no other item I own that get's cleaned more often! I love cleaning it and my DH makes fun of me all the time!

Dazedland, there wouldn't be a mess if we could look at diamonds all day long, that might be a great solution to being messy
