our DJ is screwing us over!

OMG. I am beyond LIVID. We had a meeting with him scheduled for this past wednesday to fianlize the details of our wedding. He e-mails us on Monday asking if we could possibly reschedule. We reply with alternatives. He NEVER replies so we assume the original time is still on. HE DOES NOT SHOW UP. I left a message saying we were upset at his lack of courtesy. He emails me and says he believes we cannot work together here is your deposit back. IT IS LESS THAN A MONTH TO OUR WEDDING!!!! It was HIS mistake and now I''m left HIGH AND DRY!!!


I highly do NOT recommned Rock N'' Robin DJ. They are impossible to contact on a regular basis and as you can see from my experience, are not very good at communication.

That is terrible! Look into DJs Unlimited 713-722-0911 or www.djsunlimited.net. Thats who we are using and my FIs sister used them. His mom has greatest things to say, and my rececption location uses them exlusively. They even made it to weddings when Houston was flooded during Tropical Storm Allison in 2001.
 
Contact the better buisness bureau. Be sure to let him know that you''re filling a complaint with the BBB. Put complaints on the Knot and other message boards and send him the links to the poor publicity.

Good luck finding a new DJ.
 
yikes! well on the plus side, he sounds so flakey that it''s better that you know this now and can find someone else reliable...what if he didn''t show up on the wedding?!?!
 
What a jerk!!!! You must be so stressed out right now, I know I would be. God what a jerk!!! I''m just pissed off for you!!!

I hope you find someone good in the area. Don''t worry, I''m sure someone will come through faster than you know it and they''ll be better than the first guy.

We do have a contract and I paid the deposit he asked for. IT doesn''t say anything about the DJ pulling out and I didn''t think to worry about it He wrote in his e-mail that he was sending my "meager $50" back and that is the end of that. I was sooooo angry. He was the one who set the deposit as $50, if he thinks that is meager, frickin should have asked for more. And the $50 isn''t so "meager" when you think about what it represents...7 months of me thinking I didn''t have to stress cuz I already have a DJ, that this little part of my wedding was taken care of. Now I guess my "meager" little wedding didn''t mean much to him in his big client book and HIS grand scheme of things, but obviously our wedding is huge in OUR grand scheme of things. But I guess having a humanistic side is not a requirement for having a successful business, so it''s real easy for him to say hey, I''m just not gonna do this anymore, see ya!

I''ve already posted a nasty rant about him on theknot and I''m going to go to all the other wedding boards and do the same. I spent the morning making a bunch of frantic phone calls and I think we ended up with a decent DJ. We''re meeting next week, so hopefully everything goes smoothly. Even if he decided to do the wedding, I wouldn''t want to work with him based on this experience. I mean, if he can''t handle an annoyed bride when she gets stood up for a meeting, what''s he gonna do in the middle of a reception when there''s is a snafu or a difficult guest. "Oh, I just can''t do this anymore, sorry I''m leaving" ?!?! WTH?!

I had this happened to me in a way too..Had a contract signed and then he called saying he did''nt want to do it due to parking, traffic ect....so he gave us back him money..Although we did have a contract signed, I did''nt want force it on him because he could just as well turn around and do a really crappy job on our wedding date..Luckly for us, we still had plenty of time to find one but I know what you mean about the waiting game..I say about 80% are horrible in getting back to you and I really hate the way most of these DJ companies make us put the deposit down and then meet our DJ!
