...O.K...so she''s not a baby. After much discussion, we decided that this three year old Standard Schn. was destined to be ours. Aside from quite the pedigree, she is the SWEETEST dog! She has become my shadow & it was our male pups "lucky day" when she came home. Everyone is becoming fast & furious friends! While I really miss my ole gal, "Carly" is filling the whole in my heart. Couldn''t be a better fit. Just like my male pup, she smiles all the time!

I promise her head really is in proportion with her body.

Yup. I'm gonna do it...

(Don't worry--I threaten my dogs everyday with this but never do it!)

Awwwww, what a face!! She's adorable.

oh, man she's cute. what breed is your male pup?

YAY - Congrats on your new addition!

I am a firm believer in getting back on the emotional horse myself.

I lost my baby, Brittany, after 11 wonderful years with her to congestive heart failure. It seemed like all the air and lightness went out of my world.

Two months later, I fell in love with my Nicky. He was NOTHING I wanted....I wanted a girl again, I wanted a sable sheltie, and I wanted to work through a specific breeder. Nicky was none of those things, and yet he stole my heart.

He couldn't ever "replace" Brittany, but he has filled that hole in my heart with a new kind of zany energy. I fell HARD for him, and he has me wrapped around his paw *firmly*.

To me, the many years of joy are well worth the inevitable sorrow in losing them. Even knowing they don't stay forever, I couldn't be without a dog.

you all have inspired me!!! after much trial and error, i just managed to add MY baby (or one of them at least) to my avatar.

Reena-

Your pooch is adorable! What breed is it?

He is a papillon--his name is Roosevelt.

(I actually have two Paps--a boy and a girl.) That's back when he was just a little pup and weighed 3 pounds and was sooooo adorable i could hardly stand it. Papillons are just wonderful dogs--you don't see them around a lot, but they're just wonderfully happy and intelligent and loving and loyal little pups. Great family dog (although I don't yet have a family!)

Male pup a Standard Sch. as well. I'm allergic to most dogs; so, to live with us in the house, schnauzers, poodles, most terriers are hypo-allergenic.

Love your Pap!

That was my guess, but I wasn't sure because I didn't have a sense of scale. LOVE those butterfly ears
