Oval reset into cluster style halo

I had my 1.23 J colored oval in a platinum bezel halo for several years. I always thought it was set too low, and the setting was just not quite doing it for me.

I did a bit of consulting on the forums but have to admit ended up going with my gut. My husband even feels that this setting was sort of a 'downgrade' since there is less detailed work on the setting but i am totally happy with it. I think my oval glitters much more and like a simplified shank. This is in unplated 18k white gold.

I got both rose gold bands from theloveknotshop on etsy. They are amazing! I get all my little spacer bands from there!

Fun thread! I want to reset my oval 5 stone ring and use the oval diamonds as flower petals. I'll have to accumulate a few more petals but that won't be an issue. If anyone has seen this done, please link me to some inspirations!

I can see where your hubby thinks it’s a downgrade, as there are no longer all the accent diamonds. BUT this new setting is much more unique and very beautiful! The old one looked like something anyone could buy, whereas the new one has an antique yet very classy feel. Congrats!

Awww thanks for all the love! I am loving it soo much too! Banged it at work....loosened some melee in the halo. Brought it to someone i thought was reliable only to have it 'accidentally' dipped in rhodium and melee were still loose after the "repairs"!!! I shipped it to the creator (Aby at jewelryulove on etsy )of the ring (should have done that in the first place!) .... Hope it gets there safe and sound!!

I DO recommend Aby!! I would work with her again in a heartbeat! I ended up choosing her because of positive reviews and her quote was the most reasonable for my oval halo.
