Hello,

I have a translucent, heated, Oval sapphire that I have always considered to be "orange".

I am now wondering if this sapphire could be within the Padparadscha colour range.

What do you think about the colour of this sapphire?

Based on that one pic, it certainly seems a possibility -- if it were mine, I'd think it worthwhile to send to GIA or AGL for a report.

Thank you for the advice. I have never thought about having it graded because of the presence of silk, and the heat treatment.

Here are a few other shots of the same gem. The first in the jar is top side down. I am terrible with taking gem pics.20230925_123212.jpg20230925_123236.jpg20230925_123129.jpg

Keep in mind that an AGL color grading report is going to cost you $390 plus the shipping both ways. I'm guessing you didn't pay that much for the stone.

Very true. Yes, I did not pay much for this sapphire. I am wondering if it's even truely a sapphire.

I don't know if you will get a padparadscha "call" on a stone that is not gem grade; I have only seen it applied to gemmy stones. Others may feel differently, Like I don't think you would get a pigeon-blood or royal descriptor applied to a heavily-included, borderline-translucent stone. From a distance, it looks like it's in the pad ballpark, color-wise.

I agree absolutely . Thank you for your opinion.
