I have been lusting after this ring for a while now and I am pretty set on this particular setting. I have tried it on in person and I just love it

. I am considering having Whiteflash custom make something like it for me since I would like to make some slight modifications to it, ala MommaBear''s setting where the prongs "cup" the stone a bit more. So I am wondering if any of you ladies that own this ring have any ideas of how wide the shank is in mm at the thinnest point and at the thickest point. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I love how unique and dainty this setting is!

oh geez I wish I could help, but it doesn''t say that info anywhere on the receipts. Crap, I often wondered how wide it was as well. Could you possibly call a BM that carries the ring and ask them if they know?

Thanks for responding Sabinameister! My plan is to go to a few B&M''s today and ask around, though I''m not sure they will tell me. Besides making the prongs cup the stone a bit more, I might want them to be a bit more "claw" like. How are you liking your setting so far? Any problems with melee? I''m so excited about it, I think it''s so unique!

Hehe, just thinking of some more questions for ya Sabina. Is yours the petite version? Where did you get your stone and who ended up setting it?

DH got the diamond through our local BM. Tacori set the stone, the first stone never made it to Tacori, it got "lost" in the mail, I was surprised the store owner didn''t confirm with Tacori that they got the stone. Poor DH was waiting for about 2 months thinking he was going to pick up the ring soon and he never got it. THen the second time Tacori made the wrong setting b/c the sku numbers on the paperwork that was sent resembled another style! Poor guy went through hell.

IT makes my 1.12 stone look wayyy bigger, which people have said. You will just love it. The prongs were changed a bit on mine I''m guessing b/c I ended up chipping the girdle of my first stone and so I got a new one, they were similar in size but I''m sure the proportions were a bit different and since they customize the ring to your stone, it had to have changed the prongs. I didn''t send it away to Tacori for the reset though as it is fully guaranteed through Dalzell.

I have not had one problem with the melee, and I steam clean it a lot and dip it every 3 days or so. I do not wear it to bed or with wet hands. I''ve had my center diamond loose 3 times so I avoid those things. I''ve had the ring for 1.5 years and my band is micropave from Simon G and I have had no problems with that either.

I can''t wait to see your design ideas. But I think you have to change a lot more since Tacori designs are trademarked. There was a thread about that a while ago that I read.

WOW Sabina! Looks like your poor DH went through quite a bit with that stone! It was worth it in the end though, it looks beautiful. I went to the store the other day to look at the setting once again and I was reassured by them that the diamond could be set a bit lower and the prongs could look more delicate so I don''t know yet but we may just very well go with the original Tacori. I know that I would have to make some significant changes to it if it was a custom and I really like it as is, with just minor tweaks. See, looking at your pics now your prongs looks more delicate than what they look like in the store. In the store they just stick straight up and they are pretty obvious and I think for such an antiquey looking ring it would be nicer if they were less noticeable. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to tell me your story and I''ll let you know if I end up getting it. We are flying out to Whiteflash on Thursday night and we''ll choose our center on Friday
