Pandora...or any other Brits here...I''m looking for a day bag for travel and I''d like to replace my cordura Eagle''s Nest travel bag (like day purse/field bag style) with something more old school. I''ve looked at lines like Melvill & Moon, Barbour, and Orvis but I cant really find what I want. I thought there must be a selection of British Outfitters who make old school canvas & leather safari style luggage, that might have a field bag style that I''d like. Do you know of any companies that I might look up? When I do a search I dont get much that I''m really looking for...Thanks!

Surf, have you looked at Territory Ahead at all? Not British, but they have nice canvas and leather travel gear: Territory Ahead. I gave DH the wide-mouth briefcase, and he LOVES it. Very sturdy.

Harriet, thanks for that memory jog..I knew there was another company and I just couldn''t remember that it was Ghurka..Sadly, the bag that sort of comes close is only $795...or $495 in canvas and leather...but it''s going to get thrashed during work trips so...that''s out.

Selkie, thanks for that link too! I liked some of what I saw but it lacks the structure inside the bag, that I really need.

I loved the Melvill & Moon bags but they didn''t have quite the right one. I''m hoping someone else will come up with another company that we''ve not thought of...Think safari/expedition-esque...canvas & leather or all leather...Thanks to any super sleuths who come up with anything else...!

sorry SG, i can''t think of a place but aahhh i remember the good old days when you could get something like that from banana republic. one of my relatives bought me a map bag from there that i had for years. it was sturdy and just the right size to carry a few books. look at BR now ... how different a company it is now
