Hi there!

I'm having a wedding band made and I cant decide if it should be in 18ct white gold palladium alloy, or palladium 950.
It will be a 4mm wide comfort fit band with a few small flush set diamonds, so there will be quite a bit of metal showing and I want to pick a metal that will keep its shine.
My e ring is 18ct palladium white gold and I like that it doesn't have as much of a patina as platinum does, but now the plating on the bottom is wearing off I'm not sure I like the creamy hint of colour it has. I don't like the weight or patina of platinum, so thought palladium might be a good choice for being slightly harder an stays white?

If you have a palladium ring, please can you show me how it is wearing/holding up? I've had a search on here and found Gekodannis examples but wondered if there were more of you? All the old threads on palladium seem to be from around 2007!

Thank you :)

All metals will scratch, except for cobalt which is entirely different. As far as I know most white gold and palladium are still plated with platinum (rhodium) for the ultra white color. You will have to replate if you want to maintain the bright white or scratch free. That's just a fact of life with jewelry. The only rings I have where this isn't an issue are full eternities BC they are all diamonds and have minimal metal. There is a type of white gold through Stuller, X1, that does not need plating and stays white BUT like all jewelry metals, it will still show scratches over time.
