what are you getting your parents??

We''ll probably go with these Waterford Crystal picture frames:

http://www.waterford.com/shop/product.asp?sku=3857&cat=R&terms=frame

That way they can put a nice wedding picture in it (we will have printed engagement pics in it when we give it to them, though).

Good question! I''d love to see the responses. I don''t think my parents even expect something like this, so I really want to give them something that''s worth more than money, something personal.

I got each of my parents a hankie giftwrapped with a personalized poem from www.weddinghankies.com.

There was not a dry eye in the room when I presented them to my parents...they found them to be very meaningful!

We are making up a wedding album/cofee table book for each of the parents, a fullsize one from one of the online photobook companies.

One of my friends is doing this for her parents (I wish I could say it was my idea!)...she''s buying them giftcards to www.donorschoose.org. It''s a website where teachers in underserved schools write proposals for resources they need in their classrooms, and you can donate to their proposal or fund it compeltely. The kids will then write you thank you cards and send pictures of them using the materials. I thought it was a cool idea. She feels like her parents already have everything they need, so this is a fun, interactive way to donate to charity!

FI got my mom a gift, I got his mom a gift. Our mothers are the only ones helping financially (about $1500 from each) so we thought that would be nice/fitting.

I got his mom a personalized handkerchief with "thank you for raising your son to be the man of my dreams" + our date, names, and apples on it (our wedding theme). I hope she likes it!

He got my mom a tinkerbell watch. my mom has a watch collection, and loves tinkerbell to the point where she actually has a tattoo of her on her back.

we will also give them books with the wedding pictures after the fact, but didn''t want to spend a ton of money since we are financing such a huge portion of the wedding ourselves and we give generous gifts to them year round.

kellybell: i love it too!!!!

i think we are going to do picture frames? i am so bored by that idea. his mom really loves hearts, angels, and crystal, and any combination of hearts, angels, and crystal. my mom hates all of the above. so i think we are going to end up getting different things for each mother-for my mom probably a silver frame, for his mom probably a crystal frame??? i have no idea!

I got my mom a hankie with a poem on it. She will love it I! My Dad is paying for the whole darn wedding so I feel that I need to step it up a bit for him. I have no ideas though! He is very outdoorsy (fishing, hunting).
Any suggestions for a man who just buys what he wants? The wedding is also at his and my step-moms house. Maybe a gift cert. for the two of them? Wedding is this Saturday so I hope to come up with something quick :)

I love Simon Pearce too!! Their showroom and glassblowing is just amazing. Thats a great idea. I had gotten my Dad tumblers for his birthday a while back and they just love them. Maybe I''ll get them something else from there. Kellybell do you live in the Brandywine area? I''m from West Chester originally and live in Manayunk now.

OMG! I agree! My DH went to grad school at Dartmouth, and so we frequently went to the Simon Pearce showroom in Vermont...so amazing to watch them make the pieces. We got gifts for our entire bridal party from there, as well as parents...I highly recommend it!
