I'm hoping all of you who know way more about this sort of thing than I do can help me evaluate this stone.

A couple weeks ago I posted about my search for a morganite. At the end of that thread I mentioned a peach tourmaline I might be interested in as an alternative. I understand that a tourmaline may not be a better option in terms of durability but I have also determined that this probably won't be an everyday ring. When I saw the listing and picture of this stone it immediately caught my attention. I kept going back to it for the next 2 weeks and finally did purchase it late last week.

It is quite a bit different from what I started out thinking I wanted but it grabbed me. The stone arrived today and I do love the color but I'm afraid I might be seeing a window. It's mainly noticeable when the stone is tilted. It's not as bad when looking straight down like when it's mounted.tourm3.jpg

Even if it turns out I need to send this one back and keep looking I think I needed to see it in person to move on. :))

Yes I'd say that is windowed, and I'm guessing because of the cut, a large tilt window may show easily, making it seem like the window is bigger.

What cut is that? Looks kinda like a checkerboard because of the square shaped facets but the table and crown are clearly visible.

Your guess is as good as mine on the cut. I honestly have no idea.

Thanks.

I will be sending it back.
