Just a quick question. I have not yet received my professional wedding photos but am curious, if I have a disc of all the images but no copyright release, am I allowed to post images here or elsewhere, if I mention the photographer''s name? Been wondering about that. I know I could ask him directly but I don''t know if he''d really want me posting pictures. I know that not having a copyright release means I can''t, say, enter an image into a contest or something similar, but I just wanted to know if it''s ok to post them here. Thanks!

Each photographer does it a little bit differently. Some photographers keep the "rights" to your pictures so you cannot print them or post them yourself. But many give you the rights and you can do what you please with them. If they are giving you the disks, you probably have the rights to them. But it should definitely be in your contract.

Hope you do have the rights because I want to see them! :)

I think gettingexcited is right, if your photog gave you a printable CD that you can also post pictures from, then you probably have been given the "rights" to post and print pics.

we just booked our photographer and asked them reword the contract so it was clear that we would be given the rights to our photos. when talking with them, it sounds like getting the copyright released/transferred to the married couple means that you can post pictures on the internet such as blogs or facebook and print additional pictures for your friends and family. if you don''t get the copyright released, im not sure if you can post your pictures publicly...

getting excited is right, every photographer is different. to stay on the safe side, i would contact your photographer and ask, and see whether he/she would be willing to release the copyright to you.

I''d say if you have the discs, you have the rights.
