Here my thread with the pink asscher in case you didn't see it

I am wanting opinions on setting it. I have decided I do NOT want to bezel or halo this stone. I want some bling on the band. Here are 2 that I am looking at ......which do you prefer and why..........would you modify anything?

Bumping :loopy:

I have (and LOVE) the 2nd one, and I'm pretty sure my peridot ring is the reason they offer it in an 8.5mm princess. :Up_to_something:

It's one of my favourite settings, but just make sure they KNOW it needs to be fitted for an asscher with clipped corners. I bought that setting that normally comes as a 5x7 emerald cut, asked for an 8.5 x 8.5mm asscher setting, and I got the one you linked to - so just make it very clear, that it needs to take the corners into account.

Clipped corners, thanks for the info I never would have known that.

Your asscher is very pretty. I like the second one the best but both would be pretty.

Both the ones you selected are pretty - what type of finger do you have?

I also love designs from Daniel K
http://www.danielk.net/flash/sub_movies ... idal_2.swf

He designs mostly using asscher cuts - my personal favourite is the rosebud. Beautiful!!

There are a few there that would look lovely with your pink asscher and what you described you liked.
Check out the split crown and split shank. Sorry I can't directly link you to those pages nor can paste photos here. His website has the copyright protection thing.

Again a good jeweller can most likely make a nice replica without the massive price tag.

May I make a suggestion?

I found this setting and fell in love with it. I'm planning to use it for my future green asscher.

Another design from him with a pink stone:

If you find a good jeweller - they might be able to do something similar without the massive price tag. :o
37430 pounds = $57,000 US
Those really are pretty but perhaps fancier than I want. Hum what kind of fingers do I have? Well I wear a 5.5 in my ering. My finger are not super long but on the longer side. My nails are strong and often grow long too adding to the length. I have a few handshots in a thread of the stone

Whichever you choose, make sure the setting can accommodate the depth of the asscher, as they are deeper than diamonds and also most other coloured gemstone cuts.

So I guess I should just ask Gene for all the measurements before buying the setting. All I know is it is 8.9mm

Definitely. If I’m not mistaken, the 8.9 mm measurement is the diagonal measurement of the stone and you’ll need the measurement from side to side as that is the way the setting measurements are given. The best thing to do is to ask Gene what mm size setting is best for your tourmaline, in addition to the total depth of the stone.

Does anyone have a double prong on an asscher? I don't recall seeing one. I am leaning slightly towards that setting but was going to see if they could maybe do a single prong. I have no experience with the china ebay sellers......are they usually able to do small modifications like that?

Here are a few example pictures.

I am also liking the two prong ste, I this it suits better the stone. ( from a newbie point of view  )

Tiffany has a pink square emerald 3 stone w/yg prongs on the pink. I can't link it since I'm on Firefox, but when I first saw it a while back it floored me how pretty it is. It's not an asscher, and not double prongs, but I can vision it in my mind.

Yep, that's it! I LOVE that ring!
