Since Chrono has me hooked an asschers, I am thinking of altering my e-ring project to include one. Does anyone have pictures of asscher stones with halos? I am not a big fan of the baquette halos, I would prefer round diamonds. Do these exist? I love the halo look, and I love asschers, but I''m not so sure I will love them together! Maybe I should check out emerald cuts that are more square in shape? Geez, such decisions.

I knew I could count on you! That first picture is beautiful! I''ve been searching for pictures, but keep finding them with baguettes!

lots and lots of Asschers for your viewing pleasure. Sundragon

Thanks! I have seen that page before... beautiful stones, but not so many halos.....

ETA- can asschers be cut without the clipped corners? or is that integral into the faceting?

An asscher has to exhibit the "windmill" facets at the pavillion to be considered an "asscher", so the cut corners are integral to the cut. You could get a square cut emerald with very slight corners...? To get the cornered look, you can get sharper triangular prongs at the corners and make up for the cut corner... I hope that helps, as I saw that sort of setting ONCE, but on a radiant cut...

Good luck! Asschers and square emeralds are STUNNING!

This is my only claim to an Aascher and I''m afraid it has baguettes too. It''s only a white sapphire but I love the ring and the cut,

Gemnut,
That stone is rectangular and doesn't have the right cut characteristics for it to be an asscher; it isn't a step cut, it isn't square (RA are octagons) and it doesn't have windmills.

You are right Chrono, it''s a modified cut specifically for this ring - not quite an Aascher, not quite an emerald cut. Looks like I jumped the gun

I still like it though

Gemnut,
It may not be an asscher but the ring is beautiful. It has an antique feel to it and is very unique.

The ring on the Daniel K homepage is really pretty (though I would like it in pink, of course) but does anyone know how to copy the picture?? It won''t let me "borrow" it because it''s a flash site.... http://www.danielk.net/flash/index.html

My favorite.

Thanks Gypsy! I am leaning more towards RB's for the halo, but those pictures are beautiful! I might have to go back to my original plan of a cushion cut stone... I am really taken with halos like the one below (though with thinner prongs), with very little metal and also a solid diamond look all the way around, and that seems difficult with asschers. Hmm. I guess I will have to email a couple of places to see if they could/would do something like this with an assch.

Does anyone know what's up with Quest's website? It's been "down" for a long time now. I've read such good things about them here....
