Oh my goodness, those are absolutely amazing. It''s very strange to compliment the beauty of pictures of an event that caused so much destruction and devastation. Where were those taken?

I thought the same thing CG...the pictures are stunning. Nature is frightening.

Those pictures are absolutely haunting.

Wow, those are scary. I''ve got chills all over.

Well.

I need to change my pants.

Scary thing is that this one is projecting to be a Cat 5, vs. the Cat 4 Katrina.....

Holy Pooh. Apple/Annie/Ginger- Be careful and GET OUT.

already there. from the weatherhcannel.com :

Top winds are up to 165 mph, now a category 5 hurricane. Further strengthening is possible as the atmosphere remains favorable for development over the next 24 hours.

The pictures are amazing but they are NOT of Katrina. Check out the following:

Origins: When readers started forwarding these photographs to us just after Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast in August 2005, our first thought was that the scenes depicted in these images didn''t look like either a hurricane or the Gulf Coast. Our second thought was that we''ve seen these pictures before — many times.
Indeed, these pictures are apparently all-purpose storm photos, trotted out on a near monthly basis and retitled to correspond to the latest large weather phenomenon. These photographs have now been circulated as depicting:
Australian tornadoes, May 2005

Severe storms in southern Alberta, July 2005

Severe storms and tornadoes in Ontario, August 2005

Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast, August 2005
These images are actually photographs of tornadoes taken by storm chaser Mike Hollingshead in southwest Iowa in late spring 2004. Most of them are viewable on the 2004 Digital Photos section of his web site (scroll about halfway down the page).

I can''t even imagine that it could get worse than New Orleans...oh my gosh~

Oh, Patty, we are such kindred spirits! Although this was not going to send me off to snopes, I visit there frequently...and I was instantly suspicious of these photos (which I had never seen before). Maybe all yellow gold lovers are natural skeptics. We''ll have to ask Al. ;-)

It''s funny, someone I know from Canada posted these same pictures on another website a couple of weeks ago saying that they were of the tornado that hit there last month.

Then someone replied that they had gotten the pictures in an e-mail claiming that they were of Katrina.

Right away, I thought, "These are of a tornado, not a hurricane!" Before I even had time to go to Snopes, another friend on the website found the Snopes link, lol.

But yeah, yellow gold ROCKS!

well that is good to know, they are amazing pics any way...thanks for the correction~

Patty,

The same thought came to my mind when I received the same pictures last week. These are not pics of Katrina because these are pics of a tornado, not a hurricane.

But the pics still had me in awe though, such beautiful shots, but kinda scary at the same time.

Incredible!
