You want pics? You got ''em! Here is the Elizabeth Fillmore gown I won on ebay that my mom and I are considering for her WP1 gown. I''m going to bring it for her to try on when I go visit next month (yay! I miss my mommy!)

I love the idea of using bright coloured accessories. Maybe chunky bright necklace? And she''ll definitely be wanting a wrap to cover her arms.

ps ef2.jpg

Here''s the back. Sorry about the random bra strap.

ps ef3.jpg

Here''s a close up of the front. As you can see, it''s a titch tight for me and would need to be taken out if I kept it for me, but my mom is far less (ahem) curvy in the ''girls'' department so it should fit her well.

Do you think the bodice-y top makes it too, errr, sexy? She''ll definitely have a wrap. But still?

Wow that dress looks amazing on you! I can''t believe you won it off ebay! With something for her shoulders I think it would be perfect for your mom on your wedding day. It''s sexy but not over the top, very elegant. I can''t wait to see what you come up with for a wrap and accessories

Ditto- you look amazing in that. I''m not seeing that tightness you''re mentioning, it''s stunning. I think it will look wonderful on your mom for a MOB dress.

Can you change out the straps (or is that a fashion sin)? I would think wider straps would be more appropriate for somone 60. That and a wrap and it would work for me.

I''m so glad you posted a pic! I was dying to see your great deal! It''s really lovely. The wider strap idea is good, although maybe it''s not necessary if your mom is going to wear a wrap. This dress is definitely formal enough btw.

IG -

I think the dress looks great on you, and might look great on your mom. I''m closer in age to your mom, and I think the neckline is fine. The only question I have is: How does your mom feel about her hips? That dress puts some of the focus there which is fine if she''s okay with that part of her body. If she is, I say go for it.

Thanks everyone, it really is a great dress. Yesterday FI was all ''honey? don''t you think you should take the dress off now?'' And I was all ''NO!'' I wore it for a couple of hours. teehee!

I hope it fits my mom and I hope she finds it fabulous! Then we can shop for her other dress and for accesories while I''m visiting her.

I love that dress!! I bet if you had a bright aqua blue chunky bracelet it would look divine!!

Congrats on such a rockin ebay find! Your mom is gonna love it (if you wanna give it up that is!)

Indie...there was some link I clicked on yesterday that took me to a site on gowns other than bridal. It was the other thread on MOB dresses I think. Any way one of the dresses had this piece around the neck that was so cutting edge (you ) looking...then later you posted this and I thought Eureka! That may be a suggestion for Indie''s mum. I have tried all morning to retrace my path...can''t find it.

In describing in it was similar to a shrug, but it didn''t cover as much arm. It really was more like a collar than a cover. I think the lines would look great added to this dress. Maybe in a Silk Shantung material that has that vivid color you want to incorporate. This collar thing was folds of material came from behind the neck and then was attached at say in front of the armpit/chest area. You still get to see shoulder but with the elegant coverage it seems more appropriate...(of course MHO). Argghh! Oh on this same site there was a dress, that looked just like your wedding dress...the gathering all the way down on the body...but this one only to the end of the torso, and then it had a regular type of flowy skirt. I said...Oh that looks like indies taste...Her mom should were that! It would look similar to her dress.

I will continue to attempt to find it. Maybe I am remembering it too be too great and once I find it it will me a Blah moment. But at this point...I am eager to try.

I think wider straps are fine if your mom feels it''s too sexy, but in my personal opinion it''s not too much at all as-is. It''s really not that low cut, especially if your mom is less chesty than you are. Really, you barely see any cleavage. I think it''s fine! And very gorgeous.

I love it, but I''m concerned with the rather long train on the dress. A long train is a real "look at me," star treatment touch that might be a bit much for the mother of the bride.

Rainwood: that''s a good point about hips. Both my mom and I, when we put fat on, have it go directly to hips and especially thighs. But she''s only about 5ish pounds heavier than I am (and she''s taller) so I think it should be OK. We''ll just have to try it.

DKS: Oooh, ah! Let me know if you''re able to retrace your steps! Thanks for thinking of me (and mom!)

Minims: about the train, I hadn''t thought of that, but I''m not really concerned. I kind of WANT my mom to get some star treatment, and I don''t feel that this dress overshadows the beaded dress I''m going to be wearing for WP1, but rather compliments it, so I''m down with her having a little train! Plus, most of the evening will be spent seated anyway.

If any of you see great wraps or jewelry online that would match this, let me know!

It''s lovely! I love it for a MOB. My mom should probably wear a shrug with that, but I think it stands beautifully by itself and your mom can do whatever makes her most comfortable!

You are a generous bride and daughter!

I hope the dress looks as wonderful on you mother as it does on you!

Thanks MINIMS. As long as her kit isn''t overshadowing mine, it''s really no big deal. And she never had a proper wedding and wedding dress, so she deserves some fun!

3 weeks till I go visit and she can try it on. I''ll let you gals know what the verdict is!

I absolutely adore this dress! I can totally picture it being a MOB dress - classy, elegant, and stylish. Great choice!

That is a lovely and elegant dress. What about a gorgeous choker, and maybe a fancy shrug or beaded cardigan? Long drop earrings would be great too, but then maybe skip the necklace. I think it looks great on you! Your mom should be fine with it as long as she is not uncomfortable baring her upper arms. What a great find!

Great ideas, DF! I''m pretty sure my mom will want something like a wrap or a shrug to cover her arms. They aren''t that bad, but she''s sensitive about them.

I can''t wait for our mom-daughter shopping trip in November! I''ll bring the digital camera so I can get pics for you guys of the options we come across.

I love your great ebay find! It looks just stunning on your cute figure!

I think it will be totally appropriate for a MOB dress, and I love that you want your mom to shine right along with you!
