So I’ve been hankering after a toi at moi ring for some time. I’ve got a pink sapphire on its way and I was going to use it in my sapphire bracelet project but it’s just too nice.

Do you think it would work alongside a yellow diamond? If so which toi et moi version would you go for. Inspiration pictures below. The yellow diamond is one I’ve been eyeing up on Blue Nile.

Sapphire dimensions are 9.1mm x 6.1mm. The diamond is fractionally smaller at 9.02mm x 5.66mm.

Oh, I think this will be fabulous and I'd let the colour do the talking by choosing the plainer of the two settings. Also following with interest, I'm contemplating a green/emerald and mossy cushion. I love your pink sapphire.

I think that this is a great idea. I really like the two stones that you picked and I think that they will look great together. I also prefer the second setting that you posted.

I love the 2nd setting as well.

In theory pink and yellow works, like pink and yellow lemonade. However, that particular combo isn't the best, since the pink is super saturated, and the yellow is too pale to come close. I'd go with a paler pink (think a non-neon Mahenge spinel color) or a more saturated yellow (such as you would find in a heated yellow sapphire or a neon chrysoberyl).

Somehow the second setting looks better, maybe because it's a less cluttered look?

I do get what you’re saying and I was originally looking for an unheated yellow pear sapphire (the pink is unheated and I don’t buy heated sapphires) but finding a matching shape in sapphire Is MUCH harder than finding a comparable yellow diamond.

I also feel that once the fancy yellow is in a cup it’ll be brighter. I actually don’t really love a strong canary yellow colour. I find the fancy intense yellow diamonds so often have overtones of either brownish or greenish and that wouldn’t work. Additionally they are prohibitively expensive for a colour I don’t really prefer. Even in my yellow sapphires I tend to go for a less saturated look.

I think I’d set the diamond in yellow gold and the sapphire in white. Yellow gold band. I also err towards the second setting.

I love the delicate swoopiness of the band as it approaches the tip of the pear in your inspo shot, but I always like some colourless white diamonds in my coloured stone jewelry, I think it looks more cohesive. So I would ideally combine the two settings.

the yellow pear looks lovely! I do also think it might be too light for the pink sapphire but setting it in a cup with YG prongs etc should help darken the colour, I think that’s a good idea :)

I like the two together! I see what others are saying about matching the saturation but that depends on one’s personal taste. The OG toi et moi engagement ring given by Napoleon to his wife Josephine was made with a blue sapphire and a white diamond, so clearly high contrast is also a classic feature of a toi et moi.

I love your sapphire and the 2nd setting! Can’t wait to see your beautiful new ring when it is finished!

That pink saphire is gorgeous! I love the look of the second setting. Can't wait to see the finished ring.

That is going to look absolutely delicious! I can’t wait to see!

My preference is for the 2nd one. It's a cleaner look and with super saturated/bright stones you won't need a halo. I also agree with other posters that the diamond seems a bit pale in comparison with your pink stone. I'd love to see it paired with a yellow sapphire instead.

I understand you're tempted to go for the yellow diamond for the size match. However, unless there had been image manipulation to up the saturation on the pink sapphire, even with a yellow gold cup, I just don't think these two go. The eye would get drawn always to the pink, not the pale yellow. In such a case, I would rather go for a white diamond for a crisper contrast and a better visual balance.

Breathtaking sapphire. How about a lighter pink?

It's going to be stunning! I think anything you put with that sapphire will work. I love the simple and elegant 2nd setting!

Are there any other color combos with pink that you'd like if you could find a stone that matched your sapphire's size and shape?

I love the pink sapphire! I think it would look much better with a whiter diamond than a strong yellow. Or is it in your budget to actually pair with a ruby? That color combo could look gorgeous, with a purplish-pink ruby. That's just my color preference.

Both of these stones are stunning! Personally I would not put these colors next too each other one so saturated and the other very pale. I love the yellow diamond and I know it cant be cheap, but I think it will get lost next to that pink,. That said, all that actually matters is you love it!

Lovely stone, and I look forward to seeing the finished ring!

DK :kiss2:

Well I absolutely love these two stones & think they will be knock out together! Definitely set the pink in a white metal & the diamond in 18ct yellow to draw out it's colour.

How exciting! Can't wait for this one to be finished!
