Good day all
I am a newbie here and hoping you would look at and consider what i have posted. Having no idea about gemstones etc. a friend suggested i contact this forum. When i showed this to several dealers they chased after me to buy it. Firstly i would like to understand what i have and then make a decision whether this will be a start to collecting *Rocks*.....P1130542.JPG Size : 20 x 8,5 x 8,5cm high
Thank you for looking

Welcome to the forum.

May I ask what are you looking to understand?

Exactly what it is? (Which would seem to have no bearing on whether or not you like it as an object?)

Estimated price? (therefore whether to sell it and make some money on it?)

Your use of the words 'whether to start collecting rocks' seems at odds with the mention of dealers chasing after you - if you want to collect them, that would seem to suggest you are going to keep them, but if dealers are chasing after you to sell them and you are looking to find out exactly what you have, that would seem to suggest you are looking to sell.

There is a former thread on pink obsidian:

I would imagine you would need to have some sort of documentation it is natural glass for top dollar. Then you could sell it for the best price. It could also be a big chunk of man-made glass. I have purchased colored rocks made of glass for fish tanks.

Hi there
Thanks for the info.....i was given this along with several other rock items. Not interested in selling it, as it was a gift, but was rather surprised that they pushed so hard. So whether its valuable or not has no effect on me, as i well past the retirement age and spend time in doing the things that interest me.
So what i am trying to establish whether this is Obsidant or simply glass. Which ever way i treasure it as a gift from a very special friend.
Thanks for looking
