Pink Sapphire Appraisal

Hello all! I have some gemstone appraisal questions. I am contemplating selling my pink sapphire ring and on Grace's advice I think I will send it for an AGL appraisal.

My questions:
Am I correct that I will want the Prestige Report, and would the ID Report be sufficient?
Would my next step be to find a qualified gemstone appraiser for a valuation?
Finally, armed with that information, would Diamond Bistro and Loupetroop be my best bet for listing it to sell?

For reference, I had my stone set by David Klass and he states it is a "7.31 ct no heat, untreated natural radiant cut pink sapphire.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has opinions or guidance to offer!

I don't have any advice but I just wanted to say that is a gorgeous ring!

Thank you! It really is a beauty!

In my personal opinion, I think a GemBrief would be sufficient. That will show the treatment, if any, which is most important and accurate dimensions. You can spring for the Prestige report if you want to know origin. Not sure it's worth the extra expense though. Also make sure they can do what you request since it's not a loose stone. In terms of David's paperwork, I'd make sure he gives you the gold weight and the diamond information (because prospective buyers will want to know that information).

You could find someone to do that, but you could also guess based on other similar rings in the market right now (and what you paid). You could probably use the person Grace uses.

I think those two sites would be perfectly fine.

SparkliesLuver, thanks so much for your reply. It definitely helps me decide how to move forward. I appreciate it!

@Ally66
Have you made a decision on sending for certs and listing for sale?

Hi Rfisher! I've sent it to AGL and it will take about 3 more weeks to get their report. Then I have to find an appraiser. I am near Indianapolis and will look in that area for a good person. If anyone happens to know of someone around me, feel free to let me know!

Quick update -- AGL kindly sent a photo of the Gemstone Report for my sapphire in advance of sending my ring back, and here are the salient points:

Natural Corundum Pink Sapphire, Light Pink
Octagonal Modified Brilliant Cut
No gemological evidence of heat
Clarity enhancement: None
Comments: Non-heated pink sapphires are scarce. Pink sapphires are commonly heated to modify their color and appearance.

I'm glad to have certified information. Searching for comparables, I haven't really found anything that I feel like I can equate to this stone. So I probably will try to find an appraiser to help me figure out market value.

As always, feel free to share thoughts!

Great news!

Thanks!!

Molly, thank you for that great recommendation! I will try to reach AGL on Monday to see if this is still an option.
