Hi-

There are lots of examples of estate type rings with center stones plus colored stone halos made with blue sapphires, rubies, or emeralds. less common, but this can be done with straight bagettes rather than smaller stones--- similar to picture attached (but this one is all diamonds)

Any colored stone experts have opinion about how a bagette halo would look with pink sapphires? Any reason why I have never seen with pink sapphires?

Considering putting a bagette cut type pink sapphire halo around an emerald cut stone- thought the stright lines would look good together. Sort of art deco. What do you think?

I think it''s a great idea and would be lovely, but a difficult project. The pink sapphires have to be the same colour, saturation, etc, PLUS have to be calibrated to fit the mold (around the asscher). Definitely a very custom job, not just the setting but for the pink sapphires too.

Thanks. If the pink sapphires can be cut... my other concern is will they look blah, or will they sparkle when cut as bagettes? They are going around green tourmaline and the dealer has a pink sapphire that is the perfect color match. He said he can get more of same pink color.

I can tell you that in that cut, the sapphires will not be sparkly. As it is step cut diamonds aren''t super sparkly, and sapphires have an even lower RI rating and dispersive properties than diamonds. However, they also will not look blah if the colour is very saturated. So, in essence, the colour has to be close to top notch in order to carry it off.
