Wow - they are saying on the news the plane ran into a flock of Canada Geese

MS/NBC

I really hope these people all make it out OK - they will definitely be in my thoughts today!

I''m watching the news now. It looks like there are survivors.

I really hope so - I can''t even imagine how terrifying that must be. Even though I know that getting on a plane is *statistically* safer than getting in a car, this still freaks me out.

Oh man. That water is freezing.

I''m watching it live and the plane looks intact...that''s good news at least.

Sending prayers...

Yes, my Mom just sent me an email about it. I hope everyone is ok.

Apparently, there is a ferry boat there dropping life jackets into the river. Thank goodness. I hope everyone was able to get out of the plane.

Thank goodness there were already several boats out.

There are definitely survivors.

I''m watching the video on msnbc.com right now

Sounds like everyone''s out. There''s a passenger who''s being interviewed on CNN for a little while now.

Thank goodness the plane had just taken off. If they had obtained more altitude, the water landing could have broken the fuselage.

There is no one left on the plane. It is believed that everyone is safe.

Now, there''s the question of hypothermia.

Good thing they opened those front doors immediately. Would have been impossible to open if they were submerged in water.

I was just talking about that with my co-workers...

I"m so glad it looks like the loss of life will be minimal to none - could have been so much worse!

It should be alright. Only 4 people are being treated for hypothermia.

It''s all over CNN... Makes me cold just watching!!

I hope everyone comes out of this ok!!

wow, I hope everyone is okay...and warm...so scary.

I think they are all ok.
Thank God for a MAJOR miracle.

I just read that a flock of geese caused the crash! I always wonder about birds flying around when I fly! Amazing that all survived!

What an incredible job the pilots did. Also the flight crew evac, the boats responding.
Even the passengers insisted on women and children first... Well done.

Praying the situation is as good as reported so far.

What a wonderful example of humanity acting together in the face of an emergency.

I''m just amazed at the pilot''s ability to keep that plane together. Incredible!

OMG! What a magnificent reaction to the emergency by the pilot and the flight attendants!

I just heard this on the news. I hope that everyone made it out safe and sound. Well done to the flight crew and everyone on board for getting out quick.

Bravo!!

I bet the pilots needed a changer of undies.

These pilots are absolute heros.

As an aside and as a New Yorker..I find it amusing that our Mayor Bloomberg had this pilot literally whisked away from the scene moments after touching the ground, for a photo op "interview" with him at City Hall (slated to begin momentarily...).

Our good Mayor.....Always the opportunist......
Not sure who likes the cameras more; our Mayor or our senior Senator...

I often think about water "landings". We are from Italy but live in the US. When we were kids, my mother explained to us that if we were to lose power over the ocean [as kids we were worried since we crossed the Atlantic frequently] that the plane was designed to glide down, the pilot knew how to land it and was designed to float for 15 minutes - so we would have no problem getting off ok.

Every time I fly, I think of what she said - I check the life preserver, etc. - and I was an aeronautical engineer for years! LOL!

Well, we saw it today. I'm glad I was not on it. I should call her to remind her of what she had told us.

Grateful it seems to have ended OK.

D.

WOW! So glad to hear that all passengers and crew members are safe!

You''ve got that right, Judah! It is just amazing to have such good news come out of a situation like this!

We fly USAir to and from Charlotte, and this makes me feel secure knowing there are GREAT pilots like these!
