I haven''t been posting a lot lately, but I have a few updates on our wedding planning progress.

First up, we ordered this unity candle and had it personalized with our names and our wedding date. I love the idea of being able to use this as a vase for anniversary flowers every year.

What a great idea! So many wedding mementos get packed away, but this one will be treasured every year! Really a Great IDEA!

Next, my "something borrowed" for the big day. I''d been looking around online at vintage evening bags, toying with the idea of carrying one for the wedding. Many on the bags I looked at were a bit worn or tarnished, and the ones in great condition were far too expensive for one day of use. We visited FI''s grandparents for dinner a few weeks ago, and I go to use the bathroom upstairs. Hanging on the wall is a GORGEOUS Whiting and Davis gold mesh handbag. I gushed over how pretty it was and told FI''s grandmother how I was looking at similar ones online for the wedding. She plucked it right off the wall and said I could borrow it!

She even put a penny in it for good luck. Not the best picture to attach, but the photos in this link show the color more accurately.

it''s lovely :)

Next, I had an "OMG we''re gettin'' hitched" moment tonight when I ordered our invitations.

Our invites are in the exact colors of this picture. I got response cards and reception cards, too. I chose the "formal" wording - request the honor of your presence, etc. - over some of the other options. Big party, special day = formal wording to me. I love the elegant scrollwork on these. The black ink is raised and the silver paper is pearlized with a nice sheen. Looking forward to getting these.

A few more exciting tidbits:

Our florist is booked. Getting a gorgeous all white cascade bouquet for me, red and white bouquets for the girls of mixed fresh and silk flowers, and altar arrangements that are mostly white with a few pops of red for the church. The groom gets a white bout and the other boys get red ones. White corsages for the moms and grandmothers.

Ordered personalized cocktail napkins for our bar and wedding pie buffet at the reception.

Met with our pastor for our last "pre-cana" before the rehearsal. We chose our readings and need to finalize music with the organist. Our church offered to make programs for us. I'm thinking I might take that on as a summer project for me, but we'll see.

My parents bought me a set of Vera Wang for Wedgwood toasting flutes for our wedding day bubbly.

They are beautiful and fit our vintage glam feel for the day so well. The sterling silver on these is lovely. I had planned to dress up a pair of flutes I already had, but these were a happy surprise. Link: Vera Wang Flutes

My mom has started cutting out a mockup of my dress. She measured me to fit her dressmaker dummy (FI says, "Matching you to a dummy should be easy" - gee what a charmer! LOL) and has almost all of the top put together. I am excited to try it on. I've lost about ten pounds since Christmas, but have had very little time to work out during this very busy time of year. Of course, none of this weight has disappeared from my bust. Too many of the Pebbles Flintstone vitamins as a kid.

Looking forward to the end of the school year to ramp up on the diet/exercise regimen. I should be able to try on the bodice this week! I can't wait to see the dress all put together.

Thanks for letting me share.

We're about six months out, and I still have lots to do, so I am sure I'll be back around for more updates and seeing all of your amazing pics and plans, too.

Thank you, CB! I really wanted something that I could use again, not some bulky base setup or wax scrolled thing, and this looked perfect for our ceremony. I can easily borrow some taper holders from family for the two lighting candles.

Thank you, Maevie!

I''ve spent about $100 on paper for my programs, and need to make a trip to Kinko''s this week to have them start printing for me , and mine aren''t even fancy - oh how I wish I had a church to do them for me!!

Thanks, MP. I am still working on things, but feeling way less "underwater" than I was a few months ago.
