I thought it may be useful and appreciated to have a place for all the folks, who are in dangerous areas, to post and check in so we can make sure to follow up and make sure you are safe through all of this. (I hope this is not inappropriate)

Merely a tourist in NYC, but hotel lights have been flickering for an hour now. Staff says not to worry. Mood in hotel is very positive and great commaraderie. Kudos to the staff at any establishment who are trying to keep things running along as usual.

Hoping all remain safe and make wise decisions during this storm.

Maybe it's inappropriate to ask Enerchi, but I know you've been looking forward to your trip for quite a while... do you think the storm will impact the vendors you had planned to visit?

I'm outside of Atlanta, and so far, we've only had strong winds...enough to blow my scarecrows right out of the ground! If you're in the path of the storm, please stay safe!

Sign outside of IDJ this am said they would be open, but there was no one open at all on 47th st. Very few stores at all open in NYC today. Had an email from David at DBL that he's hoping to be in on Tuesday and Winona of LJN was not sure if they would be open on Tuesday. Going to have to play it by ear! Thanks for thinking of me. I know, it seems so petty in the overall scheme of things.... Sent dougsgirl a text and haven't heard back. I,m hoping she is ok.

I'm in Southeastern, MA. Really high winds here and the heavy rain just started to pick up as well. We have flooding in the surrounding areas, though I'm high up so I'm lucky in this way. Most of the people I know have lost power (and some trees). I still have power for now. In a neighboring town, a car was crushed by a huge tree that fell on it. The girl driving was not hurt, but scary stuff!

My office is closed today and tomorrow. So far everything is fine, apart from crazily strong wind.

The wind is gusting pretty good here. Plenty of flooding. I'm hoping we keep power. We have lost it twice. Thankfully it came back. My four year old is hanging in there. The wind is so loud where his room is, I just kept him downstairs with me. I hope it ends soon. Praying everybody fairs well and stays safe.

Doing ok here in North Jersey - high winds, some rain - lights have flickered but so far so good with the power - be safe and take care, I'm keeping you all in my thoughts!

They say we might get some snow. But the winds seem to be calming down.

Checking in... Lost power but got it back. Winds are howling and I cannot bare to watch the news any more. Too many horror stories for moi. AND I even got political robo calls... Like really??

Miss Charlie pants is eating a bone and is happy as a clam.. Gotta love that.

This storm took so much from so many and am so sorry. :blackeye:

So glad you are OK Lisa. And yes, what's going on with those darn robo calls. I got over 5 of them this evening. I'm with you- really???
In fact, I think I will vote for the candidate who did not robo call me! Too bad I hung up on each callbefore I heard which political candidate it was!

Cool map texaskj!

Glad everyone is OK so far. The winds are terrifying right now here. Really scary! :errrr:

Pleased to see this thread and hopefully folk will use it to give us their status updates - it does help to have you all in one place. I'll go and link it over in Frankenstorm.

The winds are just crazy outside and the sirens of 1st responders are busy all night.

Please stay safe, everyone. I know how stubborn people can get about wanting to ride things out, but the photos and videos I'm seeing are outrageous. LIVES FIRST! Property later. Stay warm, stay safe!

Chrono, I'm glad you checked in. I've been worried about you and Vapid.

And +1,000,000 to madelise about LIVES FIRST! Property second.

Prayers, dust, prayers, dust, prayers

Vendors and lapidaries...this includes you!!!! You are so much a part of our PS community.

I knew you were okay because of the other threads ;)) but pleased you checked in here too. Where are you? Is the worst of it still to come your way?

Reporting in from midtown Manhattan. No power but the winds have died down thankfully. I'm on my iPad but will have to watch the charge bar so I don't use it all up before power is restored. No word yet on when it will be restored but the heartening thing is that we checked the basement level right before the power went off and there was no flooding. So we're hoping that Con Ed just shut the power down prematurely to avoid more damage.

Thank you soooo much Amelia :)) I've just been trying to catch up on the ConEd explosion (not knowing where it was and all) and found this picture. Good to know there's no flooding where you are at the moment and that winds have died down somewhat.

Do conserve your charge on the iPad though please and yes, I truly hope the blackout is temporary.

I also saw this http://gothamist.com/2012/10/29/photos_cars_are_floating_through_fl.php#photo-8
There are multiple reports of flooding across the city due to the storm surge from Hurricane Sandy that is now upon the city. There have been reports of people trapped and cars floating in the middle of the streets. We've also received reports that many subway lines throughout the city have been flooded as well. The city has now issued a warning to all New Yorkers to go indoors immediately, stay away from windows, and remain indoors until further notice. We'll keep updating this post with more photos and reports from various areas where the flooding is happening.

Sending good thoughts and hope everyone stays safe. This seems so scary.

I'm guessing the sudden quietness on the board means that explosion affected most of you :((
So we're just gonna wait till you get back to us and hope it won't be too long :))

Sending all my PS buddies dust!!!!

Stay safe. We are watching the weather reports and thinking of you. It is absolutely terrifying.

Yes...sadly it's not always the things IN our control and people just appear oblivious to the warnings. However I'm pleased to hear that she was rescued.
