PLEASE CHECK IN !!!

DD was evacuated to midtown at 11pm last night. She sent us a pic of her street between 12th and 14th street meatpacking district. That was the last time we heard from her. Since then, we have heard over the news channel that they are also starting to evacuate midtown. Amelia, you are in midtown right? can you confirm this latest news? I am really starting to worry now as we tried to call her but to no avail! Thank god that most PSers are doing well, prayers going out to those still sitting it out! Safe and sound to all!

What a giant, disastrous mess. :nono: I'm so thankful that many PSers have checked in with no serious issues, and am hoping to see others pop in as soon as they can. Lots of dust to everyone, their relatives, and their belongings as they start the monumental task of cleaning up.

HI:

I will glady come and help volunteer to clean up the mess.

Or provide medical help. We Canadians are good for that..... :wavey:

Keep safe, dry and warm....

cheers--Sharon

Tourist reporting in! Our hotel was affected by the Con Ed explosion so we lost power last night walked up 12 flights of stairs w a glow stick to light the way! We were all evacuated from that hotel and now re housed at Ink48 in Hells Kitchen area. Lots of flooding in lower manhattan so all tourist destinations are closed and no museums, shops, tours, broadway shows , etc., are open today. They drove us down 47th so I could check on the shops there- all closed up tight. No signs of damage anywhere along that block.

Now, just light misty rainfall and occasional gust of wind.

Weird time to be here as a tourist! Oh- heard from dougsgirl and they were fine late last night. They are staying out of the blackout zone.

Oh Enerchi, I'm so sorry you are stuck here! We still have power where we are in Brooklyn and I'd invite you over for sure but not sure how you would get here. I think all the bridges/tunnel is still closed!

As soon as they open I want to head to NJ but my dh isn't keen on going today and wants to wait till things settle down a bit. Ugh, wish I could spend the day diamond shopping with you under different circumstances! When can you get back home, any idea? My friend is stranded in Phoenix and was able to get a flight out Thursday.

Hey missy! It is currently sunny and blue sky at this split second in time!! Omg!

I'm hoping tomorrow will be a diamond day....wanna come in and play?? :Up_to_something: :naughty: page me on PS!! Or I'll post as I learn anything. Would love to meet you!

Would love to meet ANY PSers if you'd like to head to 47th on either weds or thurs!!

Checking in from NoVA; alls well! We lost our internet connection but never our power; the creek is up about 6 feet but still contained by its banks, we have two trees that have come down on the fence.

There are some flooded and blocked roads in my area but it looks like VDOT and Dominion really shaped up after the derecho this summer and had things under control for the most part.

Thoughts and prayers with those farther north and east! And those west and south who are fighting snow today!

Enerchi, you would think I could remember this, but being completely senile at 42 it escapes me where you live... ? What are you thinking in terms of getting home?

Aviastar, glad to hear things are doing well in your area, all things considered.

David, hope all is good at the store. Let us know what's going on in the streets there.

Lots of trees down and the power is out (thank God for generators). Wind is still 50 mph. Lots of trees down, but no flooding or injury.

We're pretty lucky so far. Praying for everyone.

So glad this thread was made! Everyone is in our prayers and thoughts!
Has anyone heard from Adam? I sent him an email but I haven't gotten a response... Wonder if OWD are ok...

The streets are quite deserted- but for NYC that still means quite a few folks walking around.
I live in a fairly convenient area to the Manhattan, so I'm here during snowstorms, power outages, you name it.
47th St is kind of eerie- so quiet. I don't recall a day seeing EVERY window closed.
Overall, NYC came through OK- but for sure the collateral damage will be here for years, literally.

No worries about Enerchi- any PS members stranded in NYC can come to our house.
( Kidding, I really do want to stay married:)

I'm in northern New England, northwest of Boston. We lost power last night around 9:30 and it came on at some point this morning while I was out doing errands. When I got home at 11:30, the lights and both TVs were on. There are a few trees and limbs down, and a lot of debris in the roads. A few roads in my hometown nearby are closed. School was called off yesterday and today, but I'm assuming I'll be back to work tomorrow.

I've been watching the news off and on and the destruction and the flooding in NJ and NY is awful. I've been thinking of Missy and anyone else in the hardest hit areas. I hope everyone is okay.

Hopefully DD has already checked in... but there was no evac of Midtown- the photo she sent was really scary.....but I'm sure she's ok. There's enough high ground in proximity to where she was that people could get out

I'm fine. There's no phone or Internet access on the east side of midtown. I had to go to the west side to get access and everything re-charged.

Good to hear from all of you who are safe & okay! Hope all of your families are well too. Mucho sympathies for anybody with damage; once you know your loved ones made it, then mourning comes on for the other things -- hope cleanup is not too dire. VL probably doesn't have power, in lower Manhattan -- wish he'd make it to a cafe or something & check in. Thinking of all of you & wishing you the best. Enerchi, hope you find lots of wonderful sparkly things tomorrow -- sparkles are just what the dr. ordered!

David! :wavey: what time is dinner?? DH and I will be right over after the 5pm happy hour the hotel hosts!! Left our third hotel in three days, ink48 on 48& 11th ave, and walked over to Fifth up to the Park Plaza and back again. Checked out DD again along the journey, and the doors to 10 West 47th were bolted and locked very safely! You're right David, very quiet streets everywhere. Only 1 shop was open closer to 6th with a guy practically pushing us in! Told him I was monogamous and waiting till tomorrow to meet "MY" PS people  kidding!!

JF. I hope when things finally do open up, I'll finally find the perfect setting for my OEC. It's been all over manhattan too! :loopy: any sparkly is a good sparkly!

Dee Jay, I'm from Ontario and we planned this trip back in July or August never expecting such excitement! Power loss has been the only thing that has really affected us, other than not being able to do much with the city practically shut down. Fly out early Friday morning via Newark....hopefully...but sounds like life should be getting back to normal by then.

I'm hoping to be at IDJ for 930/10 am weds morning, so if any one wants to head over there... Look for me!!

OMG Enerchi- would love to meet you too! I will page you if I can make it tomorrow. Right now we are stuck in local road traffic since all the power is down at the jersey shore and roads are blocked :(( Trying to get to our beach house...

Power is still out all around us, but somehow we didn't lose it. We have uprooted trees and a lot of closed roads, but Boston suburbs north seem ok. No school for the kids.

Wow, the hurricane rotate NYC 90 degrees.
Since were above the equator we rotate to the left.
Below the equator cities rotate to the right.

Or it rotated Enerchi.

Everything here is ok. I hope the worst is over. Hoping everybody is ok and safe.

^^^^^

It sure rotated the crane on top of the building on 57th st.... walked by it this afternoon. They have blocked off quite the multi block radius and NYPD are stationed to prevent pedestrians from entering. I have picks but can't get from my iPhone to my iPad.

I'm in Union NJ with several downed power lines and preparing to go 7+ days without electricity. The fish are probably going to get wiped out but our property and cat are Ok.

Anyone know if Good Old Gold is OK? Waiting for engagement ring shipment...

Enerchi, can you email them to yourself and open and save to iPad?

Enerchi - so pleased that you are still managing to make the most of your trip

Good to hear that everyone seems to have come through this in good shape even though it may still be some time before power is restored.

Trying charmed ones trick!

Have to get crane photos transferred but the technique works - that's good to know! Here is the IDJ window from Sunday night n the mean time

This is the crane. Can't figure out why they rotate like that. Sorry. I guess because I took them in vertical mode?

Enerchi, you clearly lean left.
At least your view on thing leans leftist.

We live in Northern Manhattan (above 125th street) and are fine, still have power and no flooding. I work in Harlem and will be trying to go back to the office tomorrow.

My Nana is stuck with no power in NJ and her beach house on LBI is probably very very wet and sandy...if it is still there. Not sure when we'll be able to go down and check it out...it sounds like at least 10 days.

Enerchi, you really have the New York spirit. Glad to see that no hurricane can keep you away from your diamonds.
