Please help - identifying a window ?

Am a newbie, what does a window look like on a stone - what should I be looking for ? Many thanks !

chamois, here is an excellent example of a stone with a huge window......

Here is a helpful way it was described to me:

place your gemstone on top of the newspaper. If you can see the letters but they are distorted, not a window. If you can read the newspaper through the stone (letters are not distorted), that is a window.

Have done lots of looking at stones, and now see what windows look like, I also notice something else on many and wonder if it is a concern - looks like a fingerprint or smudge on the top, do I need to avoid those stones ? Thx.

It all depends, if the "Windex" works on it or not (ie: either the window or the smudge!!)
