I''m interested in purchasing my first real watch. Finally! I have always loved Cartier, and especially the Tank watch. I prefer the Francaise, but also like the Americaine. My question, is whether any Tanks come with an all polished silver band, or is the band always the matte stainless steal? I love the way polished metal looks (like chrome) and was wondering if I have missed seeing a Tank with that kind of band. My ideal Tank watch would be all high polish, and I wish the second hand was on the mid-size... But I can be flexible! Can anyone offer me any advice?

I would contact Cartier through their customer service and ask if they offer an all polished bracelet for the tank....let us know what u find out.

sorry I can't really help you out with your main questions, but I like the americaine better, just looks wise.

I have the Tank Francaise and I absolutely love it! It was my grandfather's watch and it serves as a memento of him for me. I think these are the specs, I just googled it. Oh, and I love that it's a man's watch and it's not very big at all on my wrist :) still very elegant and classy!

The only high polish band in stainless for a Cartier is on that of the Santos Demoiselle. Otherwise all are matte, or a combo. In order to get a Tank Americaine in a shiny metal bracelet, it is gold (white or yellow, and I believe the white gold is now only offered with a diamond bezel). That model is not available in steel (it has never been offered that way). The newest Tank Anglaise is not yet available in all steel either (it is available in steel and rose gold) but even the gold models are a combo of shiny & matte so I would expect if/when they offer it in all steel that it will follow suit.

You can ask on www.timezone.com.. It is a watch forum. They are into mechanical watches, and and although Cartier is considered a "fashion" watch, there will still be knowledgeable people there for the Cartier brand. I would go to a Cartier Boutique and try them on to see what you like.
