Please help me figure out design

for my Finewater sapphire.

I originally wanted a Diana ring.

Then I wanted a 3 stone with the sapphire in the middle and would have to buy one more CBI for the outside set.

But then I started thinking about a promise ring Fh gave me (we started dating at 16 years old!). This ring was bought I think at Wilson’s when we were around 19-20. It was smooshed at a volleyball game.

So now I am thinking of a modern updated version of this with my one CBI and sapphire.

Problems: CBI is round and sapphire is oval. Does that really matter though?

What about proportions?

I think I prefer toi and moi style rings where the stones are a similar shape as I find them more balanced, but here’s a couple of examples where the shapes are different. I especially like the different shape stones in the open style ring. What are you looking for - daily wear, dressy, classic, modern?

You could maybe bezel or halo the diamond to give the illusion of a more oval shape to it if you think the difference would bother you?

Jemma Wynne seem to do a lot of open style toi and moi rings with different colours, shapes etc. Their site may be worth a look for inspo.

Not at all. CBI stones are very uniform with their parameters.

I like the bypass design even with the size and shape difference, but only looking from above. Is the belly deep on your sapphire, or I may be mistaken. If so- that would bug me in a bypass. I really really like the three stone better.

Thanks. I’m not a fan of hexagonal styles for this. I am mostly set now on the 3 stone.
