our obsession with kate's rings, use of coinkydink...we must be long lost twins!!!

gosh, i don't know where to begin...ok, i'm just gonna dive in...

first off, i LOVE your ering. it really makes me wish i got something a little more intricate and well, sturdier and more substantial. if i were to do it all over again, i probably wouldn't get the shank i got. it's really really well made but it's so delicate that i feel like i have to be super duper careful when wearing it and am constantly paranoid about bending it out of shape. but all i have to do is look at kate's set and i feel better about having the super thin shank. now if only i can find that bezeled ring, darn it!

so today, i felt this sudden urgency to find that ring so i armed myself with a picture of it and went to a handful of jewelry stores in search of it. oh, not sure if you remember but i live in hong kong at the moment (which makes ordering online a little more troublesome). apparently the ring we covet is not a popular style here (at least that's what the salespeople claim as they're trying to convince me to consider some other style...they have no idea!).

hmmm...i'm pretty bad at visualizing too. if i had seen kate's ring on a jeweler's website or in a store, i probably wouldn't have noticed or considered it. but seeing it on her finger with her set...well, you know the rest. if your other two rings are both 2.5mm, my gut would be to get the Bev K in a similar width. If Pearlman's has it in two widths, maybe you can order both and return the one that you don't want. And of course, we're here to give you our opinions!

Speaking of Pearlman's...haven't heard back from them yet but will definitely keep you posted! I just hope he ships internationally!

Oh, and do you think Kate's ring is actually from Bev K. I was studying the photos of her ring and noticed that the top of the baguette bezel is engraved, just like Bev K's. Or maybe that's a common style.

Did I tell you I was obsessed or what?!?!

oh, and here''s a new picture of my leon set!

I got a Beverly K Ring From Pearlmans last year--- they were great to deal with. And my ring is so cute :-)
I got the thin pink saph/diamond band..... I could add a photo?

best of luck

hi again BECG,

have an update, albeit a confusing one...

just got an email back from julian at pearlman''s. he said the pair of bands on their website are slightly different...one has one row of milgrain and the other two rows. i can''t believe i didn''t notice that before. i''m definitely interested in the one row.

http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/beverley-k-jewelry/rings/55PP1/240/

now the confusing part...his prices for ONE ring are
$2650 for one row of milgrain
$2290 for two rows of milgrain

what?!?!??!?! completely not what i was expecting. so i go back to their website and re-read the details on the ring and it does read "Priced for one, 0.79 double milgrain ring." But this totally contradicts the quote Bill gave you. Also, according to Julian, the rings are 2.5mm wide.

So i wanted to get your take on it before I email Julian back. Did Bill give you a quote via email or over the phone? Hopefully we''ll get to the bottom of this cuz if Julian is right, those rings are a little out of reach now. Sigh!

*CONFUSED*

I spoke with JUlian first and then Bill... yes, one ring has one row of milligrain edging, the other two...

I inquired about the one row and the width was 3.2 mm and the cost 1200....

I still have the email, THANK GOD.. let me copy and paste for ya !!!!!

Yeah, at that price, totally out of reach.

Here is the email from Bill to me and below is my email to him regarding the ring.

Hi Mitzi, Nice name :-) You can purchase one ring for $1,125.00. Shipping is about $90.00 UPS The ring is about 3.2mm x 1.6mm. Let us know if we can be of help. Thanks,BBill Pearlman

hi BECG,

didn't mean to disappear...had some out of town guests for the weekend. it's exhausting playing hostess, i tell ya!

just want to give you an update on that ring. julian said his price is correct and bill had misquoted. because of the error, they're offering me a one time discount...not quite bill's price but much better than the listed price. i read in melanie611's post (looks like that design is REALLY popular) that you've ordered yours!! how exciting!! if you don't mind my asking, did they honor the quote the bill gave you?

i'm going to order mine too as soon as i get all the specs (and assuming the specs are complimentary to my leon set). My main concern is whether the BevK ring will sit too high off the finger. really makes me wish i didn't go so thin with the leon set. it's proving VERY difficult to find rings to stack on that sit as close to the finger!

and THANKS for complimenting my leon set! you're too kind!

GOOD GOD that set is perfect!

Hi DaimnodNut !!!!

I was looknig fro you this morning and was going to page you !!!!!!

YES, I ordered my ring on FRIDAY afternoon and am terribly excited !!!!

There was some confusion regarding the price, however Jason, Julian and Joseph and Pearlman''s were absolutely WONDERFUL about the entire situation and went well beyond what even I thought necessary to make the situation right.... as they should I suppose, but I felt it was very generous nonetheless.

My quote was slightly higher than Bill''s but still significantly lower that the listed proce, so I jumped on it, knowing full well this oppurtunity may pass quickly.. My darling FI was very supportive and really pushed me to make this purchase and I am sooo glad I did !!!!!

The depth of the ring, meaning how high it will sit agianst your other rings is 1.6 mm, so it is VERY flat.... my ering from Leon is either a 1.6 mm or a 1.8, can''t quite recall, and my shank is 2.46 mm at the widest, tapering down to a 2mm at the bottom.

At best, the Bev K may sit just a SMIDGE above your set, but from what I can tell, and I''m only going on a "visual", I think the Bev K band would look PERFECT with your set, and you can return it if it doesn''t work.... the way I looked at it was here is an oppurtunity for a GREAT ring, exactly what I am looking for at a great price.. why not ???

And their 30 day return policy definately sealed the deal...

I was so glad to see your post ! My weekend was crazy busy as well..... and I really wanted to tell you what was going on...

When do you receive the specs ????

BECG - slightly off topic

You mentioned in a previous thread that you bought your stone off ebay and they were a supplier of Leon''s, are you able to tell me who they are?

Best mate wants to suprise his missus with a ''wee ring'' and he''s been looking on ebay.........I know, but he won''t budge, saying he''s getting a good deal etc, however if I can point him in the right direction, to a reputable source then he would get a good deal.

If you could help, I''d really appreciate it.

x

I''d love to help you... however, for the life of me I can''t remember the distributors name, because in the end, Leon actually purchased the stone from the distributor AFTER we told him it was listed on Ebay...

I do know it was a dealer in NY that Leon buys from...

I''ll ask my FI tonight if he remembers....

I''ll go check my Ebay acct. now in hopes I can find something for you...

I''m sorry, I wish I had more info...
33.gif

There are alot of great, reputable diamond distributors on Ebay and some bad as well...

You just have to do alot of research...

Let me see what I can come up with for you...

Magic, yer a wee star!

hey BECG!!!

I'm this close to ordering it too. i read on another website (the one i gave you a link to) that it isn't too deep so i'm optimistic. my leon set is 1.6mm wide and visually the depth looks about the same...and it looks VERY shallow. i can't imagine the BevK ring being that shallow considering they have all that detailing on it. but if the stats say it is, then i'll just have to believe it is. either that or my leon set is less than 1.6mm deep!!!
6.gif

also, since you've actually spoken to them (i've only corresponded via email), did they clarify on their return policy? i just read on their website that anything that they don't have in stock and have to order is a final sale. did they happen to have your size in stock and therefore you can return it in 30 days? mine would have to be ordered for my ring size.

gosh, ordering jewelry online is sure a pain in the %^&*!!! so much easier if i can just walk in, see it, try it on, and walk out with it...on my finger!!

oh, not sure when julian will get the specs to me. i just sent him another email to follow up.

Hey DiamondNUT !!!!

Sorry for the delayed response.... work has been crazy, home life INSANE, so I thought I better repsond now while I had the chance !!!

19.gif

Every site I am have been on, including the very helpful link you gave me, states the ring is very shallow, with a depth lower than 1.6 mm... I emailed Pearlman''s for the exact stats but have yet to hear anything back..
7.gif

I''m sure your Leon is 1.6 deep.... don''t worry.... any thinner and it would be like a paper thin band !!!!

It is hard ordering online... especially considering it isn''t a "small" purchase, but from what I understood, their return policy is 30 days, even on items they have to order out.

Well, at least I hope it is !!!!!!

It is hard to imagine the Bev K being that shallow considering the work and i''m a little nervous too... my ring will be in 6 weeks and if you wanted to wait until mine came in, if Pearlman''s would still honour the quote they gave you at that time, and also if we have heard nothing back, which I highly doubt, howeva... I couls post reems of pics.... measure it up... show pics with just my ering.. with the band, etc...

Just a thought, albeit not a very helpful one at this point considering the 6 WEEK wait !!!!!!!

I had to order the ring for my ring size as well as they didn''t have any of this style in stock and if they did, my size is nto a full size, I''m a 6.5 - 6.75, sooooooo I ordered it in a 6.75 just to be on the safe side... when putting THREE rings on your finger, a little bit of room never hurts... My ering is 6.75 and it rolls a bit, but considering the Bev K cannot be sized, they advised going a quarter size bigger.. so did Leon.

I''m waiting for my WEDDING BAND and THIS RING so I understand exactly what you are going thru !!

I am NOT used to buying anything of this magnitude without seeing it, inspecting it, analizing it, and then deciding... and leaving WITH it !!!!

In Canada where I live, the ring is $3500 !!!!!!!

EEEEEKKKKK !!!!!!

So that was one of the resons I contacted Pearlman''s.... alot cheaper !

If you hear anything let me know as I will you...

I wish we lived closer.... at least we could go thru this over a glass.. or bottle.... of WINE !!!!

Hey there!

I took the plunge!! Just ordered the BevK ring and the waiting officially begins!

Oh, FYI...Julian got the specs from BevK and the ring is 2mm wide and 1.8mm high. A little higher than I had hoped but I think it''ll be OK.

And thank you sooooo much for offering to take pics of your ring when it arrives. But being the impatient one I am...well, you know the rest
3.gif

I was agonizing over the ring size too. My Leon set is 6.25...sometimes that''s perfect, sometimes it''s a tad tight. My old wedding set was 6 and that was definitely too tight though when Leon measured my finger, he thought I should stick with a 6 but I insisted on going up .25. Don''t like the look of fingers being squeezed. I probably should''ve gone up .5 though. Anyways, I ended up ordering the BevK in 6.25 (though i would''ve preferred a 6.5) just to be consistent cuz I don''t want it to be bigger than the Leon set and end up jutting out on the sides. Ya know what I mean???

And I see you saw my post about the diamond sapphire ring
1.gif
I swear we must be kindred spirits or something!!! What are the odds that we always covet the exact same rings. Makes me wonder what else we have in common. It really is too bad that we don''t live closer cuz a bottle of wine is a splendid idea!!!
