Okay, I just don''t even know what I should bring on my trip to Costa Rica! I need some help from all you seasoned travelers! I''m going to be there for 10 days and will be doing mostly sporty stuff, but also chill beachy stuff. This is my first sporty vacation (usually go to Europe and stay mostly in cities) so I''m not sure what to bring!

I do have 1 pair of sporty pants (the kind that zip off into shorts-so dorky and awesome!), 1 pair of sporty shorts, and 2 sporty tank tops. Of course I have tons of regular shorts and tank tops too but I''m just not sure how much of that to bring.

I get all freaked out about packing and wait until the last minute and take way too much stuff, so I need a little help because I don''t want to have to carry too much stuff all over Costa Rica! Should I even bring a cute outfit? How many pairs of shoes? I have a pair of hiking/trail sneakers and I figure I need some flip flops for the beach. What else?! AAAAH!

I''ve never really gone anywhere tropical but I just wanted to wish you a good trip. I''m very jealous.

What to pack....um sunscreen? Sorry I''m not much help.

Hahaha, that''s okay-it''s a bit of a specific topic! Besides, I''ll probably over pack no matter what!

All your sporty clothes sound good. I always overpack, and I end up wearing 1/4 of what I brought.

hmmm the cute outfit? This reminds me of our last rugged/tropical/beachy vacation. I brought a couple of cute outfits, and I NEVER wore them. I wore my sporty gear the entire time.(Lazy!) I'd bring at least one, though, because if you don't, you might miss it, and I'd make it of the mix and match variety, so you can get some mileage out of it.

Those zippy short/pants are going to be awesome for hiking!

Shoes are bulky, so I'd just bring your hiking sneakers and cute flip flops that can go from beach to out for dinner and stuff. Oh, and maybe some plain rubber/good in water flip flops for beach alone.

Don't forget a good hat! books for lounging on the beach--

Man, I'm jealous! Sounds like a great trip!

Have fun!! Whoo Hoo!

Thanks Blue Jeans and Coati! A hat and hairbands are two things that weren''t on my list, so that is extremely helpful! And Coati, I bet I''ll do the same as you and just end up wearing my sporty clothes! So only one outfit!

I actually leave tonight for a hotel near the airport so I will be in Costa Rica tomorrow!

Guess I better pack like...now!

Here''s some health-related stuff:

1. bug repellant with 100% DEET (or as high as you can get)
2. loperamide, or other tummy-trouble-suppressant (over the counter)
3. cipro (from your doc...in case of serious tummy infection)
4. whatever shots your doctor suggests, prob''ly Hep A,
5. band-aids, disinfectant goo, tylenol
6. A SUN HAT!!!
7. water shoes, if you''re planning on going in the ocean
8. SPF 45

Weird things that always come in handy:
9. String, twine, or sturdy thread... you can dry clothes on it, lash things to your bag, or tie things up.... I always end up using it for SOMETHING.
10. An extra plastic bag... again, always ends up coming in handy for SOMETHING
11. A swiss knife IF you''re planning to check your bag anyway.

Thanks Indy! All great suggestions-I read them earlier today but couldn''t respond. I''m off to the airport in a few minutes and I am packed up and ready to roll! Woohoo!
