Hi All,

I am considering purchasing a diamond for an engagement ring. I think I found a good deal on the below but i'm a complete newbie. Looking at the picture my only concern is the small black crystal. The seller stated that the diamond despite the defect is eye clean but I would appreciate a second opinion (link to diamond) . I've included some pictures and details below.

Any other thoughts also on quality of the diamond and if you see it as a good purchase would be much appreciated.

The price is $1030

Thanks all!

The cut on it is not all that great. The center area looks mostly like mush which will not return light well.

What is your budget, specs? Hopefully, we can make a better suggestion.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Around the $1300 mark for the diamond.

I was also eyeing these two other options which are in budget:

Option 1
Option 2

Thanks

If you haven't seen the PS learning center article about cushion cuts, there is what is called the "70/70 Rule" = max of 70% table width, and max of 70% overall depth.

I used the PS search tool with pretty tight criteria, and here's what it came up with:

Here are some amongst the results to take a closer look at:

Thanks all for your support - I think i'll be going with this one.

Follows the 70/70 rule and looks nice and at a good price.

To give you a full picture this is the setting i've chosen - In platinum.

I've attached the GIA report if any of you want to give me some final advice/opinions.

Thanks!

Strong flourescence can be a major problem for some (not all). If you decide to buy this, make sure you take it outside into direct sunlight for a good while, then take it into a moderately shaded or indoor area to see if it looks cloudy or hazy before dissipating. Even if that effect is present, some people don't mind it at all.

No...its not going to reflect light well. Numbers (like 70/70) don't really mean a whole lot for fancy cut shapes (like cushions).
The center is going to mostly be gray without good light return on that stone you picked. You need to find a stone that has
distinct well-defined facets that are flashing on/off (black/white).

Examples...I'm having a hard time finding anything in your pricerange/specs

Does it have to be a cushion? Cushions usually face up smaller due to their depth.

Edit...
This is the relative size you are looking at on a size 5 finger

I agree that the one you chose won't be great unfortunately.

I agree with others that it isn’t a good choice.
