LOL@hairy bear pics. I have a few of those  Kenny, you take some amazing pictures! Any lakes or streams, grass maybe?

From our trip to Scotland this past summer. Can't remember where we were with the mountains. Waterfall is Isle of Skye.

Wow! I am so jealous of all of you with photography skills. Beautiful images!!! I took this pic a couple years ago and it is very special to me because the subject, the showy lady slipper is our state flower but it is somewhat rarely seen out in the wild. It is only in parts of Minnesota so when we saw it while on a trail walk at a state park we were very excited and of course all I had with was my Iphone, it did the job but did not do the delicate pastels of the flower justice.

Jordy, love the shark photos!

Just another day at the office, right? :D

Haha basically! When I was 18 my office and home was a 50 foot luxury fishing boat on the Great Barrier Reef, that was a dream place to work but 16 hour days and 30 days straight without a day to relax was too exhausting.

Wow, what a joy to see everyone's beautiful pics.
Lots of talent here.

Sorry I can't contribute to this nature/wildlife pic thread.
We seem to never escape our concrete urban jungle. :knockout:

What about pics of your shrimps, pretty please?

DK :))

Artdecogirl, I do not have photography skills. I have a nice Nikon DSLR but still have no idea what I'm doing. Most of the photos I take are with my phone and its camera is not that great, it just has a good macro function or something. I have done some work for people's websites and have been told I have a good eye, but I could really benefit from a proper photography class, I think. Those ladyslippers are gorgeous!

Here are some more of my favorites, these were taken at a community garden last summer.

It's a magical place. I was astounded by the beauty and would go back in a heartbeat.

Arcadian, dk168 and Matata,

I love the photos you posted! Thanks to each one of you for sharing! :appl:

Kenny,
I'm sure you have plenty of wild life photos, but they might not be appropriate for sharing.

I'd love to see any of your work! I saw one of your posts showing a box-with-painted-area-to-reflect-on-diamonds. Hmmm, that might not be the technical term, but perhaps you know what I mean. Anyway, I was very impressed with your creativity. And did you notice the 'etc.' in the subject line. ;)

I'm loving these photos, but my productivity has fallen faster than Newton's apple today!
Unload dishwasher, check out PS, load washer, check out PS, unload washer, check out PS, etc. ;)

If I've missed anyone, my apologies!
I'll now enjoy and admire the photos silently, rather than caving to the urge to express my enthusiasm for each and every one!

Wimp!

Suck it up Princess, and get back to work!

Luxury fishing boat on the Great Barrier Reef. Geez, kids these days! :nono:

Ooooh, I just thought of some that may just squeak into the legally-sanctioned topic.
Lemme find that hard drive.

Kenny,

I'd love to see photos of cities, villages, architecture! :appl:

Not every place looks the same.

Maybe I should dig up some photos from Afghanistan and show 'Pretty Boy' Jordy what a tough life looks like.

I got inspired to post the Pinchincha pics. Pinchincha is in Quito, its currently inactive volcano but Ecuador has lots of active ones that ring the city. I had only gotten as far as 15000 feet. You can go all the way to 16,000+ but the altitude was too much for me. Its also quite cold up there, but you can still get sunburnt! ( I did!!) At the top there's a crater lake which I would have loved to had seen. Maybe next time right? :appl: At 15000 you can see the mountain ring around Quito. Beyond that is the Cloud Forest.

Spend a month trying to wrestle 1000lb+ giant, aggressive Marlin on 700lb line with nothing but gloves and then let me know how your hands and shoulders feel. Good googly moogly I had gravel rash on my knuckles once back on terra firma

Trust me - it may be a luxury boat, but there is nothing luxurious about what a deckie has to do for a charter. The clients pay $20k for a 5 day trip and expect all but their bum's wiped.

Jordy,

I'll be serious for a moment and tell you that if I tried to do what you do, I'd be pulled overboard within minutes by one of those fish.

And those photos with sharks? I love looking at the photos from the safety of my laptop but, thank God, I didn't have to do what you've done to put food on the table and keep a roof over my head.

:wavey:

Okay, here's some urban 'nature' my doggies and I see on our walks.

Here's some 'nature' from my aquarium.
Mama guppy giving birth.
Guppies don't lay eggs, her fishies are born live.

She gave birth to around 40 over a few hours.
Here's a twofer:

This one's on his way up to get a ride on mom's back.

"Whew, I'm exhausted; :knockout: I think I'll rest here a while."

Close up.

Trapping fruit flies with wine qualifies as nature. No?

Sometimes I breed shrimp.
Even at a couple weeks old and after several molts they are still smaller than a grain of rice.

Here's one on a dime.

I hate sharing my wine with fruit flies! But sometimes I leave a little in the bottle and set it on the kitchen windowsill. They get drunk and can't fly out the narrow opening. Looks like you do just as well with a regular glass!

Here are 2 furry critters. Not the best photo quality because I wasn't really thatclose and enlarged the pics later.

Kenny!

You're a very talented photographer! I love those photos! Amazing!

Capturing the bee in flight and the birth of guppies! Wow! :appl:

But those California fruit flies look like they're the same size as your beloved pups!

Thank you for sharing your photos with us!

Some desert dwellers - javelinas, quail, vinegaroon, and rattlesnake.

Sundial,

Those are wonderful photos! Of the four creatures mentioned, I'm only familiar with quail and rattlesnake. I love learning about different creatures. :appl:

And those rugged mountains in the background of the quail photo are stunning!

I love mountains. We have some nearby but they're very old, so we call them 'hills'.

May I ask the location of the photos? Were these taken in the US?

Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos! :wavey:

Thank you December-fire and thank you for starting this thread. There are some awesome pictures on here! My photos were taken in New Mexico and Arizona. The vinegaroon looks like a scorpion but isn't and the javelinas look like pigs but aren't!

Whew, Kenny, those are really good. I loved the guppy pics! the fly pics are cool too (though stomach turning  ) post more! :appl:

Arcadian, thanks!

The folks on here live near/have travelled to some amazing places. There's beauty everywhere, in the bugs in the backyard and the landscape in foreign countries! The folks here have a great eye and terrific photos.

Thanks, everyone for sharing!

Kenny,
You didn't think you had anything to post but, my goodness, you've got great photos!
I forgot to mention that your first photo, of the yellow and green plant, is gorgeous! That should be framed and hung on the wall!

I'm seriously addicted to checking out everyone's photos. I'm going to force myself to sign off and close my laptop for a while now.

But I'll be back! :D :wavey:

This was early in the morning last August when we were on vacation in Myrtle Beach...I take it as a sign that I need to live near the ocean lol
