Please share your photos of nature, wildlife, etc.

A few of my macro shots from summer/fall. I got an Olloclip for jewelry photos but ended up getting really into nature photography. I go on what I call "macro walks" and just take a ton of photos. This is a closeup of some kind of flower (I have no idea the names of most of these, but am trying to learn), some kale in my dad's garden, water droplets on a blade of crab grass, and a moth on a lily.

Rubybeth,

Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos! :appl:

I'm just starting to play with my first DSLR and have been out using my telephoto lens. I love macro shots and look forward to playing around with close-ups.

Of course, at this point, I'm still trying to figure out appropriate settings for various light conditions! I'm making lots of mistakes but having so much fun in the process! :D

Elk

Taken at a nearby Elk Ranch. If the Elk are within hearing distance I use the term 'Elk Spa'. ;)

I'm looking forward to taking photos later in the year when the males have grown their massive antlers.

Yay more pictures! :appl:

I went pretty deep into the archives and found this

Iceland. This is Gulfoss Waterfall. Yes, we were silly and went in wintertime. It was actually a lot of fun though!

Thingviller. because the camera doesn't have panoramic, I had to kind of create my own...lol. it worked out, I have the series on the bedroom wall, but this is only one of 3.

One of my favorite Lilies. I do unfortunately have lots of them....lol Probably the reddest flowers I've ever seen. They seem to only come up every other year. Not sure why its not so clear but hmmm thats ok.

Arcadian,

Beautiful photos! The cloud looks like Kenny's guppy! And the frozen waterfall is gorgeous!

I'll be back later with a couple of woodpecker photos. I took about 500 photos of the same woodpecker yesterday and have to see if there's one or two worth posting.

At the moment, though, I should be reading the book for my Book Club meeting that's in three hours! I seem to have become addicted to photography and am falling behind in a few things. :D

OMG I do that too! :appl: I still use my Panasonic G1. Its probably my favorite camera out of all the ones I have (though its big) but can't see myself ever replacing it.

Out of town so only have what's on my phone. Here are a few highlights from work last year.

Sonnyjane,

Your photos are spectacular! Thank you so much for sharing them with us! Please post more. Lots. :appl:

These are from work? If you don't mind, may I ask what you do?

Prior to retiring, I worked with humans. An interesting species. Some more 'interesting' than others. ;)

I'm a naturalist on a whale-watching boat. I have gigs and gigs of photos but like I said, I'm traveling currently so don't have many to pick from, just wanted to play along! I just got a new camera so am looking forward to the upcoming season.

Sounds like a great career!

Have fun with the new camera and please share more photos whenever you can!

Enjoy the travelling! :wavey:

The mountain pictures were taken in Norway - National park of Jotunheimen (fun fact: Jotner or Jotuns, large god like creatures in Scandinavian mythology that lived in the mountains - sometimes at war with the gods in the heavens)

Thanks for adding the 'fun fact' about the mythology! Love that! :wavey:

Hairy Woodpecker (same appearance as a Downy Woodpecker, except the Downy has a shorter beak)

A Flying Squirrel!?!? No, a Red Squirrel caught mid-stride on his way to attack a novice wildlife photographer!
Note to self: avoid the woods during meal time. Those animals are wild!

So, one Red Squirrel and one photo of some kind of plant life.

Madam Bijoux,

Oh, that's perfect! Like Missy said, fierce and tender. Wonder what she's whispering into the big guy's ear. :appl:

Sonnyjane,

Welcome home from your travels!
Please post all the photos you want! They're beautifully shot and depict sights that many of us might never see in real life.

When I grow up, I want to have your photography skills. :D

White-tailed deer. I think she spotted me.

Are those her real eye lashes? No, must be mascara.

No, Sweetie, I think we parked over there.

Great. First the car goes missing, now she's gone missing! This is no time for 'hide and seek'. :nono:

Just good subjects - I had no photography experience when I started two years ago. I usually use the autofocus and "sports mode" to get fast shots, just lucky!
