Please Show Me Your Emeralds

Lovely; looks like high karat gold too. Any handshots or face up view of the emerald?

It's funny this thread has resurrected again today because I've just watched somebody sell an Emerald ring (highly included and cloudy) where she said "you MUST have jardin in Emeralds and this is how you tell a good one from a bad one"! WHAT WHAT WHAT? Go back to gem school lady! The most highly prized Emeralds have little or no jardin and are transparent not opaque!

Seriously, it frightens me what poor people believe and end up with thinking they have heirlooms :(sad

Yes, but LD, they don't call it "opaque" or "yucky stuff" or "really included." They give it a fancy french term so it has to be good, right?!!

We should start making up other fancy terms for dreck and see how far we can take it! How about "rouge sale" (short from rouge salete - excuse my lack of proper accents) for rubies? Sounds better than "dreadful included mess" doesn't it? :praise:

Hi Chrono! Here you go. It's 18k with a 10 carat emerald.

From the profile it looks like it has quite a bit of heft - does it sit high off the finger? Are your pics accurate for color and is it a glowy emerald (one can never tell from pics)?

I love this thread. :lickout:

Hey Minous! Yes, the ring is very heavy, the stone sits within a thick protective bezel and it does sit fairly high - it really needs to tho, the stone is a 10 carat emerald. It definitely has a presence! Not for the faint of heart......The color is quite true to reality. It does seem to glow from within and considering it's size it is very "clean." The landscaper upstairs kept a very tidy jardin with this one!

I'm literally thinking: "does she live in a condo?" "Is the gardener upstairs?" Some of us are slower than others...

It looks very pretty from the photos - I'm always curious when rings have prominent profiles because I would just imagine them getting stuck on everything.

My emeralds can't compete with the beauties in this thread but since I'm practicing taking photos tonight I will show you my little green girls.

My emerald pendant and my ring with teeny surprise emeralds on the profile.

I like the detailing on your ring and your pendant very much. Is the ring white gold with an 18k head? Its hard to tell from the photos.

Thank you Minousbijoux. The ring is indeed white gold and 18K gold. They are both custom pieces from my favorite jewelers. I like detailing on jewelry and most of my pieces have a lot of it. However, after seeing many photos on this site I'm thinking of doing a simpler piece soon.

I just got this teeny .39 Colombian emerald completely treatment free (not even oil) from Litnon. I've never seen one so clean!

AthenaWorth I already stated this but will repeat: "the world is a much better place now that you have bought this diamond!"

It is so incredibly clean and this is my ideal green color for an emerald. Just beautiful green glass with a touch of blue. I'm swooning! :cheeky: :appl: :halo:

+1 Athena! That is a true beauty -- my ideal of an emerald too. Practically perfection. :cheeky: :cheeky:

Well done, Athena! Love that emerald!

So....I take it it is a keeper? :naughty: What are your plans for it? A stacker? It's lovely albeit on the smaller end.

It's a keeper. I'im thinking she deserves to be smothered in diamonds.

I like your wording "smothered in diamonds". It is very enthusiastic and positive.
