Ok...so reading Sleeping Beauty''s post got me thinking....how are we doing??. Those of us that are on spots 1-30....are we getting closer??

I''m not trying to discriminate against the newest members, but I''m just wondering how soon some of the "older" LIWs are doing?

Will we have handshots soon? do you know? do you have a definite timeline?

Mandarine- I''m number 8- hard to believe how the time has flown by!! I joined LIW list before we had long talks about marriage and timeline, hence why I am here a bit longer than what I had imagined. The good news... we have a wedding the first weekend in October we are flying to- which I have every assurance I will be a fiance!! In fact- I got to see a mini-preview on his computer last night!!

We have a 2006 timeline that I''m sure he will stick too. We have been together almost 7 years and I told him that I am moving on after this year. I can''t imagine my life with anyone else but if you''re not ready to make a commitment then I need to move on...

Hi Mandarine!! I''m now #18, gosh it seems like I moved up fast! I voted "I think I''ll be off in a month!!" Our wedding date is actually already planned for November 25th, so he doesn''t have that much time to get the ring on my finger. Actually we''re just waiting now for it to be finished being made and then I really can''t see him making me wait once he gets it

We''ve got the 2006 timeline. I am pretty confident that he will keep the timeline. I guess there is always the chance it could get pushed but as of right now I don''t think we will go past it.

I''m sure no ring has been bought - although I could see him doing the proposal first and then us going shopping after since I am so picky....

I''m 99% sure it won''t be in the next month or so but I''m trying not to think too far ahead so i don''t get all stressed out!!

If my fiance had waited until now (instead of last month), I would have been in the top 30. I got there so fast! But some of you have been here for a LONG time and you all have incredible patience. I just don''t think I could have waited much longer!

FWIW, Jenwill''s name will be taken off the list tomorrow -- she''s hit the 6-month point of no posting. It will be weird to see a new #1! I hope Jenwill is happy and engaged or married somewhere!

I''m still sitting at #12, I can remember when I was in the 60s and 70s!!. We had a timeline for the end of this month, but a lot of financial difficulties came up over the past few months and we decided to nix that timeline. Right now I have no idea when it will happen... hopefully before the end of the year, but who knows?? I am trying to remain positive, but it is frustrating to have waited this long and still have to wait..

We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this past Wednesday and it was fabulous, but no ring.

After all of these years of waiting, he recently threw out a 6 month time line of his own...much to my amazement.

We''ve picked out the ring and our designer so I''m really HOPING it happens sometime before January 2007.

All of this waiting has me really feeling like it''s NEVER going to happen though

Well, I''m sure you all are well aware of how impatient I am ... as I sit at #20 on the list.

I did vote however that I think he''ll propose within the month. I am 98% sure that the ring is done and that he''s starting to plan. According to my calculations, the ring has been done for 28 days, I''m hoping he won''t be able to wait any longer.

I think it will for sure be within the next two months, but I voted with my optimistic side. I''m ready to give my spot to another LIW!!!

It looks like I''m #16 on the list with nary a deadline in place! Still hopeful that it''ll be in the next 12 months or so.

First of all i would like to say how flattered i am to be an inspiration for a new thread.... LOL I voted for keeping 2006 timeline as we have a july 2007 wedding planned and I want to be engaged before i do any planning it just feels weird not having anything to look at on my finger when i buy wedding magazines. and since we are having a destination wedding when we go on vacation for christmas i want to have most of the things done and for that i need well WANT my ring

Hey sunkist i feel better after reading your post. makes me feel less crazy planning a wedding with no official engagement.

My BF is having a really hard time right now with family and work related issues and that''s why I know it won''t be in the next month. I am just keeping my fingers crossed that these issues will be resolved before the end of the year!

Well, sitting at #2 is no fun because I''m no closer today than when I joined Nov 04. We have an engagement ring but me thinks he wants to buy a new one to propose. This one here is viewed with hard feelings. Princess cut .89 pendant project anyone?

It''s so close I can taste it.... I know for sure by the end of September it will happen. After waiting almost 6 years it''s about freaking time!!!!!!!! Plus, we have a tentative wedding date in our heads (an important anniversary for us in fall of 2007) and he said we''ll have at LEAST a year to plan so that means it will be SOOOON!!

I''m bouncing off the walls since I have been thinking about getting engaged for at least two years!! Now that it is SOOOO close I am flipping out!!!

It is so weird being almost at the top! I don''t really feel like I should be there... I don''t mind the waiting. I think we all joined at different points in our relationship and when I joined the LIW I knew it was going to be a while before I got my ring! And I''m totally and surprisingly ok with that... He and I have had a lot of changes and ups and downs in the past year of our lives and we''ve adjusted and are stronger for it. We know that we will be engaged and he''s so cute when he talks about it... but right now we''ve both agreed that it is important for him to be more financially stable before plopping down so much $ on a ring. He is paying his way through grad school and we''d prefer for it to be debt free (so far so good!) and he also just had to buy a new car... so things come up, and we''ve adjusted. I''m happy with him and we''ll see where we are when/if the timeline we have comes and passes. I don''t think it will...I know I don''t pop in too often, but I wish all the LIW a speedy engagement

and lots of happiness! Lol and I hope lots of you get crossed off before I do, because I still have a bit of a wait to go!

Oh wow, I didn''t reply to this till now because I didn''t realize I moved that far up the darn list already. Well, we''re smack dab in the middle of some pretty intense investments right now, so we''re just waiting for everything to stabilize. It''s kinda scary to put down a large chunk of money when everything''s so uncertain (real estate market bubble looks like it''s about to pop, gas prices are soaring, which directly affects his business).

So we''re hoping that everything will stabilize enough in the next year or so for us to get engaged. Believe it or not, I don''t mind waiting a bit longer. I''d rather have peace of mind knowing that when it happens, we really don''t have to stress about the cost, rather than plunking down a large chunk of money for a ring and a wedding that will most likely have 400+ guests. It still sucks to wait, even though I don''t mind. Does that make sense?

Thanks for asking! I wish I had better news.

I replied no timeline b/c although we have talked and have a general timeline of a wedding and moving after that, we don''t have anything specific. I think he knows I''d like it to be sooner rather than later but am still ok w/waiting a little while....if I must...
He does know what style of ring I like and has already asked me to look and has said I''ll have no idea when it''ll happen. Great!

But things are going very well w/us, and I am very happy w/our relationship and if I ever sell my place, we will actually move in together. Yay! Here''s to hoping it''s 2006!

By no means being on the top 30 spots means that we''re not happy in our current situations!....I can understand having to wait and being ok and happy with it!. I''m ok with it.....sometimes! hehe.

We are also in the middle of a huge real estate mess that involves two houses and huge investements. Needless to say he''s very stressed and he''s the kind of guy that tackles one thing at a time!....so that''s how I know it won''t happen within the next month!....but I surely do hope it happens by the end of the year...that was his timeline and I just don''t know how much more I can take....simply because we have this kind of long distance ''weekends'' relationship and it just kills me to not know when it will end!.

So I''m really we keep our 2006 timeline!
