6/13/2010 is our wedding date, and 50% of the time when people hear this, they reply "Oh weird" ... "Aren''t you worried?! What if your anniversary lands on Friday the 13th!" ... "Don''t you think that''s unlucky!" Etc, etc.

Did you or do you still get any of this from friends, family, co-workers? I am tired of it and we have only had the date for a week or two! Its the perfect date and actually lucky on the Jewish calendar because its a new moon/new month. But I am tired of the negative responses.

I''m not either one of the girls, but some acquaintances got married on Friday the 13th and they had a fabulous day...My lucky number is 13 because my birthday is the 13th. I have had some of the best birthdays on Friday the 13th-tell people to mind their own business!

Thanks Blair!!! Anyone is welcome to answer! I just wonder how others deal with this! If you ask me when the date is, or if I have set one yet, the next words out of your mouth should be "Congrats, wonderful!" You know?!

Anyone else have a similar situation or story or significant milestone/event on the 13th?

People are silly. There''s not a single date of the year that hasn''t had something bad happen on it and could be considered unlucky. The next time someone says something like that, be a smart ass and say something like, "well, so far, the only bad luck it''s brought us is having to answer this stupid question over and over again." Okay, probably not a good thing to say for real, but it''s fun to think it, right?

We''ve been lucky in that we haven''t received a single comment about getting married on the 13th! We wanted to get married this summer, and it was the only date available at our venue. Sorry you''ve been having to deal with the comments...it''s such a silly superstition as far as I''m concerned, and probably really irritating after you''ve heard it repeatedly.

I''m getting married on the 13th of March next year, it''s a Saturday, therefore it will be a few years before we have a Friday the 13th anniversary.

My FI''s parents were married on the 13th and 13 was his dads favourite number, so those things out weigh the fact that it is traditionally seen as unlucky, and i don''t really believe in it anyway.

No one actually knows we are getting married on that date yet so i haven''t had to deal with peoples comments, but i do like the way the date looks.... 13/03/2010 or 03/13/2010 for people in the US.

Baker''s dozen (13)...who doesn''t like something special thrown in!

"The 13th will always be a lucky day for us, because it is the day we were married."

Enough said. Any other comebacks, warrant nothing more than a blank stare and blinking.

Thank you girls! I knew I could count on all of you for some reassurance. In all my density, I didn''t bother to look at the list for anyone else being married in different months on the 13th

My only thought was, since our date is a Sunday, I knew this year would be a Saturday. This morning I looked and there is a good handful of 13th brides. OY!

And Doodle, I am that sarcastic person that could totally get away with saying that to some people! Lol

I think 13 is going to be my new lucky number, I never had one before!

I just went back and counted, I found ten of us "13th Brides".

Hehehe, at least I''m not the only one on here who is a smart mouth!

13 is my lucky number. I wanted to get married on the 13th, but it fell on monday last year, so we decided the 11th was a good compromise for me and DH because his lucky number is 9, so we met in the middle.

my parents got married on June 13th....41 years ago. So it must have been "good luck" for them!
I absolutely would not worry about it.

That being said, we''re getting married on Oct 30 (a Friday this year) just because it was the only weekend that worked for us and the family, and we both felt "funny" about getting married on Oct 31 (this year, a Saturday) since it would always be a Halloween anniversary.

Thats funny oakpark! Although could you imagine the themes you could have and decorations for a Halloween wedding! One of my friends got married on April Fools. Although I have no idea why they chose that date!
