Possible Dress

Hi all,

I am new to this board (although I have read it for quite a while)! I am planning a beach or garden wedding in 2009 -- details are still kind of up in the air. I was wondering if anyone has seen this dress in person or what people think about it. I ordered it today and I am very excited to see what it may look like.

I really like it! It's hard to find a good dress that would look formal enough to look like an elegant bride but informal enough for the beach, and I think this one does that.

Monarch, I don't understand why dress designers don't design/make other styles. Strapless dresses aren't for everyone (me included, and I HAVE one) but often, there's not much choice otherwise. It's so frustrating!

And I totally agree about the strapless dresses. When my friends got married, primarily 5-10 years before me, they had every choice..short sleeve, long sleeve, off the shoulder. Few of them chose strapless, and now that's pretty much my only choice! And the few V-neck or tank styles are too low cut. I don't want "boob crack" on my wedding day (as my 7 year old niece calls it! lol). The stores have said the strapless trend is because that's what everyone picks.....but that's cuz that's all there IS to pick IMO!

My favorites have been in the 4-5k range, and although it would be possible if I heavily skimped on other things, I think that it is just a little too much for our budget. Unfortunately, I am not a sample size in the chest, although it fits everywhere else so getting a discount that way is not going to happen.

So, I am hoping that this dress will work, but I am a fan of unique, different wedding dresses. I would love to get a beautiful gown for around a thousand dollars, even if it is not technically a wedding dress, and hopefully this one will be it. Otherwise, I will keep looking. I''ll post a pic when it comes. I am also thinking about making little sleeves like the Carolina Herrera one has from the alterations since I am 5''2 and I am sure there will be extra fabric!

I feel the same as you. I LOVE vintage, and love looking different. Don't know why all these dresses are white and strapless, but I eventually had to cave to the strapless trend, too. That being said, you may get a kick out of the Casablanca dress I ordered- keep an eye out later this month when it's supposed to arrive!
