I have emailed Julia about making me a setting similar to one she has on her sales list. I absolutely adore the style and have 9mm brilliant cut ruby I received years ago that I would love to set.

Here is the sketch for another one of her customers.
Sketch

I would alter it as well and Julia has some ideas of her own.

Input?

That's a beautiful setting, and it reminds me of the James Meyer bezel setting that Arjunajane had made for her large pinkish red rhodolite cushion garnet. Do you have a picture of the ruby?

Ditto on the James Meyer Arjunajane ring. Its a very pretty design!

I love that design as well, but this will definitely be in silver.

I would post photos but I am 99% sure this is a created stone and don''t want to violate the rules.

That''s my ring she''s making.

It DOES look like a James Meyer ring. In fact, if I didn’t know the maker, that’s who I would have guessed made it. The design is very pretty.

Thanks all. Julia even had a nice chat with JM to make sure he didn''t feel encroached upon. He was happy for her to go ahead with it. The funny thing is that Julia has been using these design elements in her jewelry for years but she didn''t want anyone to think she was copying anyone else''s design. I really appreciate that about her.

I was planning to post photos of this sketch later, but oh well - now it''s out!

That''s a really cool sketch. I think it will become a popular choice. While it is a bezel it looks really really open. Maybe a darker stone could go in it and get the bezel effect withou being darkened???

What do you experts think?

Thanks stonehunter. That was our thinking - the bezel look but just bezeled around the girdle of the stone. The aquamarine I''m using in it isn''t dark but I didn''t want it to get darker once bezeled so this design lets the light in.

It''s nice to hear that Julia is so forth-coming.
