I''m wondering if the ladies who have eloped (or plan to) could post some pictures of their dresses here. I''d imagine most select simpler dresses for the occasion, but maybe that''s not the case. I just started looking myself and am looking for ideas!!! I''m hoping to find something super-simple, A-line, flowy, non-beaded (but maybe a little is ok) and WHITE.

What does your dress look like?

!
We eloped in a beautiful inn in western MA. This is me in my Watters gown. A good friend of mine eloped on Christmas eve in NYC in a $30 sheath dress from target and looked stunning! Anything goes.

This is my VW dress (without the sash) whitch I''m going to wear in Bali, Indonesia this August. I had the same requirements you have, airy, light, no beading, big flowers etc.

(it''s not me in the pics though)

more pics of the dress

Thank you ladies!! Both very beautiful dresses!! Looking at websites is so much fun, yet so daunting . . . so many choices!!

Ooh I hope surfgirl posts hers! It was beautiful!

Bumping, just in case any elopers missed my question the first time around.

Here's mine...I'm about 90% sure this will be my eloping dress. It is by Marchesa. I am planning on having it shortened to below the knees so that I can wear it for future occassions. There is one other dress I am considering, but I am waiting until it comes out in April.

musey, that was sweet of you to remember my dress...which I'm still somewhat unsure of even after the fact!

Here is a photo in the bridal salon, with the veil. It's a Bill Levkoff BMs dress that looked more bridal to me so I made it more bridey with a different sash and veil.

Veil close up

After ceremony lace jacket..

If you're having a photographer, I highly recommend getting both a veil and a jacket, because you're going to be the only ones in the photos and this way it sort of mixes it up a bit and you get some variety in your photos...My photographer was so psyched to see I had both, that way it wasn't all the same photos, you know what I mean?

SuLi,

That''s a lovely dress! Very stylish. That''s great that you''ll be able to wear it again. What does your other dress look like? Where do you plan to get married?

SG,

That is such a pretty dress! So many different choices to begin with, and then bridesmaid dresses too. I LOVE it with the jacket!! If we get married in Finland (outdoors) I may just need to keep a jacket on the whole time!!

Hi there! Thanks for the compliment on the dress. The other dress I''m considering is a Lela Rose dress. It''s short sleeved, and more casual -- it looks like it is a silver/ivory colored dress with faint polka-dots.

I am planning on getting married locally. I''m looking into getting a permit to get married at one of the monuments in DC.

How about you?

Ohhhhh, the Lela Rose dress sounds so nice too. Do you have a picture of it that you can post? Getting married at a monument sounds lovely. Do they have companies that can make arrangements for you? Will you do it during the day? Just curious about visitors to the monuments/whether you will have private space?

We just got engaged, about 2 weeks ago. We want to go away, but haven't decided yet. We are now thinking Europe (Finland, Croatia, ?) or New Zealand. Everyday, I seem to be adding a new destination to the list, but in any event, it will be this May, so we'll have to start making some decisions soon.

Here is a picture of the Lela Rose - http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod53150198&parentId=cat14210753&masterId=cat13590732&index=13&cmCat=cat000000cat000001cat000111cat000727cat13590732cat14210753

I really like the Lela Rose, but it definitely seems a little more casual to me than the Marchesa dress. I''m going to wait to order it and see how I feel. I really wanted a simple and elegant dress, but one that I could wear for future occassions and/or bring with me to Europe for a romantic dinner in Paris.

As for the monuments/memorials idea, I''ve already looked into it. We have to apply for a permit to have a small wedding -- I believe they have a few designated areas where people can get married in. We''re doing this all by ourselves for this October. Because of my job (political), we are going to go on our honeymoon next spring, after the elections. We are planning on going to London and Paris (I am SO excited). Your preliminary ideas sound really lovely. I can definitely relate with the switching of plans. Originally, my FI and I were going to get married in Hawaii, then we thought somewhere in Europe, and then somewhere in the Caribbean....we just settled on home which was the easiest thing to do.

Good luck with your planning!
