Even though we eloped, we are planning a brunch vow renewal/reception in September.

What do I wear???? I REALLY want a special dress, since my actual one was ok but not great. I loved my shoes though! I want something ivory, and that is about all I know. I was looking at Jim Hjelm bridesmaids dresses, but my Mom thinks they look too "bare" and "cocktail dress-ish" for a brunch party. Now you see why I wanted to elope...the woman has some serious opinions.

Anyway, does anyone have ideas? I still may go the BM dress route. I dont want it to be just like any old dress, like something one of my cousins will show up in as well. I want to stand out and be bridal without being over the top.

I will be going to a bigger city nearby soon, and that would be a good place to shop if I knew where to go and what to look for!

Help!

Definitely hit up BM dresses that come in ivory. Melissa Sweet also has the CUTEST short dresses. They seem brunchy to me...whatever that means.

ooohhh thanks Sunny! I will check it out.

I guess I don''t know what kind of fabric/shape I want. For day in Sept? It will still be warm here, and the vow renewal may be outdoors.

First Congrats on your Marriage!!!!!!!

Second, I saw this dress on PS before as someone''s rehearsal dinner dress and loved it. I scoured ebay for months before one popped up in my size and I bought it for under $100. That is a great price because Nordstrom is still selling it for $570! It comes in white and an off white (I would call it Ivory) color.

Anyhow, I bought it for a post wedding party we are having after our Destination Wedding. I want to still look "bridal-y" without having to worry about a big dress or a train. This one was perfect.

oh man, now you are giving me full-length dress ideas!! This could be bad...

I guess that it all depends on the dress. I mean some long ones would look more appropriate for my party than some short ones, huh?

I guess I need to go looking!!

I fully agree that you should get a special dress. I have been looking for a reception dress and just wanted to point you in a few directions.

Jenny Yoo has my favorite "bridal alternatives" line. None really work with my body type, but I would wear the Audrey (below) in a second if I could.

Coren Moore is great, too, as is Saeyoung Vu (though her dresses are harder to find.

Of course, there is always J. Crew and Nicole Miller.

There are a ton of great BM dress options, too, but if you want to feel special and bridal, I would probably pick one of the less formal bridal designers. Keep us posted on what you pick!
