I met with the florist today. We''ve pretty much agreed on the flowers for the ceremony (to be held at my parent''s house). The arrangements will be various shades of pink, green, and cream and include hydrangea, roses, larkspur, stock, snapdragons, bells of Ireland, and some other greenery I can''t remember.
The reception will be held at a nearby restaurant (which will be closed to the public). The restaurant is an old, restored, riverfront building with really old pine floors and a tin ceiling...lots of white columns inside, brick walls I think, and paintings from local artists on the walls. I was thinking of using multi-color Gerber Daisies for the reception--mostly hot pinks and corals. The tables will be so small--3x3--that we need pretty small centerpieces. And we don''t want flower petals falling into the food. To make a long story short, the florist suggested we do potted Gerber Daisies, which would be potted in 4-inch pots, about 4-5 largish blooms per pot. She said they would be full looking. I would need to supply the pots though (otherwise, they''ll just wrap the plastic in tinfoil and ribbon, which I don''t like the idea of). I''m not sure if I like this idea of potted flowers at all though. Will it look too casual? Has anyone seen potted flowers as centerpieces? How can I spruce up this idea? Would unique ceramic pots do the trick? We plan to have votives scattered on the tables, and I also thought of maybe placing some Gerber Daisy blooms (with the stems completely cut off) right on the tables here and there. What do you guys think?
Do you think potted flowers could be done well? Any ideas for pots? I am thinking of perhaps using some light teal linens, if I can get them--maybe just the napkins in teal if the tablecloths are too much teal. The restaurant only supplies white. My wedding colors are sort of teal, pink, and coral. Thanks!
