I met with the florist today. We''ve pretty much agreed on the flowers for the ceremony (to be held at my parent''s house). The arrangements will be various shades of pink, green, and cream and include hydrangea, roses, larkspur, stock, snapdragons, bells of Ireland, and some other greenery I can''t remember.

The reception will be held at a nearby restaurant (which will be closed to the public). The restaurant is an old, restored, riverfront building with really old pine floors and a tin ceiling...lots of white columns inside, brick walls I think, and paintings from local artists on the walls. I was thinking of using multi-color Gerber Daisies for the reception--mostly hot pinks and corals. The tables will be so small--3x3--that we need pretty small centerpieces. And we don''t want flower petals falling into the food. To make a long story short, the florist suggested we do potted Gerber Daisies, which would be potted in 4-inch pots, about 4-5 largish blooms per pot. She said they would be full looking. I would need to supply the pots though (otherwise, they''ll just wrap the plastic in tinfoil and ribbon, which I don''t like the idea of). I''m not sure if I like this idea of potted flowers at all though. Will it look too casual? Has anyone seen potted flowers as centerpieces? How can I spruce up this idea? Would unique ceramic pots do the trick? We plan to have votives scattered on the tables, and I also thought of maybe placing some Gerber Daisy blooms (with the stems completely cut off) right on the tables here and there. What do you guys think?

Do you think potted flowers could be done well? Any ideas for pots? I am thinking of perhaps using some light teal linens, if I can get them--maybe just the napkins in teal if the tablecloths are too much teal. The restaurant only supplies white. My wedding colors are sort of teal, pink, and coral. Thanks!

I should add that I have no attendants, so my wedding colors are really only relevant in terms of decor. The wedding is small-around 17 of us, including groom and I.

I personally love potted centerpieces. Partly because they will make great favors!! Are they actual live daisies or daisies stuck in some floral foam with some moss over the top? The restaurant sounds kind of rustic and I think potted daisies would go really well. But I do understand what you mean that they would be more casual.

Does she have any pictures of other events she''s done where she used these as centerpieces?

They''re actually potted in dirt/potting mix and could be planted in the ground later or kept as a potted plant. We should have enough to give each couple one to take home, so I think the favor idea would work great. She didn''t have any pictures of them I assume, since she didn''t show me any...and, as I mentioned, I''ll need to supply the pots...

I just came across these pots...the smaller one is 4 inches. They are a bit steep at 10 bucks apiece. But maybe something like this?

I also thought a simple pot with a pretty ribbon tied around it might be nice. Sort of like this, but with more blooms and no butterfly...
