Ok...FF and I visited with Mark T. at ERD yesterday and this is what we picked:

Carat Weight 2.75
Color J
Clarity VS1
Depth 66.1
Table 63
Symmetry Very Good
Certificate GIA
Polish Excellent
Girdle Slightly Thick
Culet None
Fluorescence None
Measurements 9.01x7.02x4.64

I got so wrapped up in staring at my new rock for an hour that I actually forgot to take pics eventhough my camera was in my bag. I have to go back on Monday to design the setting and I''ll take pictures then. Oh yeah, I should mention...last minute change. We decided to work with Mark on the setting as well. We saw his work while we are there and it just didn''t make sense for us to go to LM. BTW...I know Leon''s work is fab. but I am a worry wort and a perfectionist and I want my setting the way I want it and Mark will do that for me. He will keep working on it till I love it for a better price and well...I wasn''t getting that on the other end.

Hope to have pictures to you guys by Monday!

Oh how exciting!

Yay!!!

So how will the proposal work?? Will FF take the ring and surprise you with it later??

I always wonder how I will do with something like that. I''ll be so excited that I''ll probably just wear it without the proposal....kind of like when you know what your Christmas gift is and you open it sooner out of excitement

Or is that just me?

LOL

Can''t wait to see pictures

I always open/wear my presents before the gift giving occasion too. It''s fun and I don''t want to wait

I loooove emeralds!! Put me in a trance everytime! Can''t wait to see!

I doubt that I am going to be able to see the ring once it is finished. FF didn''t originally want me involved so I''m pretty sure it will be taken from me and hidden for a few weeks. It is coming soon though because FF did not want to wait 8 weeks for a LM so... another reason for having Mark to the setting.

Probably with my mom. I doubt that he would keep it at our apartment. He may even have it at his parents. I hope its here though...cause I will find it!!!

BTW...the stone is a J and it is sparkling white!

Hee! Mine is doing the same thing. Our poor poor diamond is all alone at the Fedex station as we speak (!!!!) waiting for him to pick up, then it''s going to his sister''s house. Away from me. Hmph.

I can''t either! I''ve always wanted a halo so that is what I am going for however, the stone is so pretty that now I''m scared I''m going to mess it up with a "too busy" setting. What to do? I''ve always wanted this problem and now I don''t have the answer. What is wrong with me?

What a fabulous stone! Seeing it makes me think of one of my all-time favorite rings belonging to Fran Fine. I don''t think a stone that size really needs a halo, but I am sure it will be beautiful!

DS...that ring is gorgeous! FF and I are on the same page in that we don''t want any side stones other than pave. I know it doesn''t really need a halo but I plan on making it as small as possible and maybe even on an angle so that it isn''t the pronounced. I want something extreamly dainty so the monster can have its glory. I just love pave and wish I was a little more creative.

EmeraldLover, I am so happy for you. The stone is gorgeous. My emerald cut is coming to me soon too, and I''m so excited! However, I didn''t get to pick the setting. You''re a lucky, lucky lady! I''m very jealous. I may have to confer with you on your Mark setting if mine doesn''t look right IRL. My dream is a thin, delicate halo. I can''t even imagine how gorgeous your ring is going to be.

Can I ask, what do you love about the emerald cut diamond? It''s helping to hear everyone''s opinions.... Thanks!

kb...I hope I can live up to your expectation. So, you don''t know what setting you are getting but know that it is a halo? I''m so nervous I don''t mess it up.

I know what I''m getting, and unfortunately it''s not a halo. The setting has four RBs (about 15 points each) around the 2-2.5 ct emerald cut center (I''m not sure exactly what the carat weight is yet). Long story about how I found this out--see this post: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/i-pulled-a-carrie.87220/. I''ve decided I''m giving it a chance IRL and enjoying the engagement first, then worrying about the setting later if I don''t like it. It hasn''t stopped me from continuing the search for my dream setting, but I''m open to liking the current one.

The great news: I''m pretty sure the proposal is happening this weekend! We leave on a "surprise" trip tomorrow--I don''t know where we''re going or what we''re doing. To say I''m counting down the minutes would be an understatement.

Ohh that looks yummy :) I think your stay as listkeeper will definitely be really short and sweet :)

kb...that acutally sounds beautiful!!!! Please, please get engaged this weekend so that I can see it. LOL, I''m sorry that is so selfish. I just really want you to like it. Seriously, halo''s are my first love and that is why I''m sticking with that. However, I mentioned that I originally wanted a LM and decided in the end against it. A lot of things went into that decision however, a setting is a setting and it can be changed if it isn''t to your liking. I saw your original post, I just didn''t remember that it was you.

I''m sending fairy dust to you.

nvrbedfeated...This isn''t a simple answer. I really wish it was. First off, I''m not a princess or a round type girl. They don''t suit my personality at all. I have always loved step cuts but that isn''t to say that I love all emeralds. For example, I am more drawn to fatter emeralds where the ratio is between 1.12 and 1.3. For some reason the longer ones I don''t love as much. I also like pretty pronounced corners. Much like the asscher, I think the beauty of the step cuts lies in the proportion and the cut corner windmills. I love that my eye is drawn into the stone.

Thats the short answer, I hope that helps. In the end, I had to go with my gut. There was a time that I wanted an asscher and a cushion. I acutally have asscher earings and this was probably the biggest debate in my head, however, the EC''s looked better on my hands.

Ok, everyone, I''m off to work. I''m so excited that this weekend is going to go by so slow. I don''t know how you all do it.

Wooohoooo so exciting!!! You made the perfect decision, you sound so happy
