Has anyone had their wedding dress preserved after their wedding. What does it cost?

I would also like to know what they do and how its different than getting it cleaned and put in the closet in its bag? Thanks for starting the thread Musincy!

I had mine done about 2 years ago... It cost about $200. They clean it for you, press it, and then put it in a sealed box, with layers of tissue paper to keep out moisture and preserve the fabric. They also put my veil in there. There is a little "window" in the front of the box so I can look at it without opening the box.

My dress cost $300... is a $200 cleaning worth it?

I bought a sample dress a year before my wedding. It was fine a year later!

It''s only worth it if you want to preserve it... Some people don''t care if it''s dirty on the bottom... Some people plan on using it for christening gowns... If you want to have it done and never open the box, then it''s worth it. If you want to be able to wear it again, then maybe spending the money isn''t worth it.
