Prices of Purple Garnets

Hi everybody ! Can somebody provide me a guide how to evaluate or appraise Purple Garnets from Africa ? I mean the colour is quite close to Amethyst but the brilliance and intensity is much much higher. Kindly give an idea as per the carat weight of stones.

I believe you may have it incorrect. If you are the "Trade Member", you are the one that should know the price. As this is a consumer based forum, it may not be as helpful to you to locate pricing. You may want to enter into vendor related forums where the participants will understand your focus. There are several on the internet.

Roger you are right that being in the trade I should be answering questions instead of asking. But Purple Garnets are something which I have come across for the first time since 25 years of being in trade so I thought that others traders in this forum who have the experience might enlighten me on this subject.

This is a consumer based forum with only a few in the trade. Even then, most of those here in the trade do not deal much with purple garnets. With a simple search of the word gemmology forum, you will find the place that Roger advised where there are more trade participants. It is also difficult to advise pricing when $/ct will vary depending on the size and colouration.

My intention is not to sell the little bit of rough that I have acquired but to determine if this really is a rare stone and how should I price it.
