Hi all... I am just newly trying RSS and am wondering if it is possible to add Pricescope as a feed?

I may be looking in the wrong place, but I can''t see where the feed info is, if it is there....

Cheers and thanks in advance....

Um, what''s RSS?

And welcome to Pricescope!

Hi kmom, thanks for your welcome.

I'm no expert, so my explanation will probably be really bad, but RSS (which stands for Really Simple Syndication) is a way of receiving information from a site as the information is added, ie all the new posts would appear almost instantly in your RSS 'inboxes' and then you can read them that way, from most recent backwards.

It is used on most news websites, as well as others.... it's just a handy way of keeping track of new additions to a site without having to check each category (and even each thread) individually...

I just "waste" so much time coming on here and checking all the threads to see which ones have been replied to ...

.... so I thought it might be an option! I have just started doing the same on a photography board and I find it really convenient.

Anyway, I figured if ANYONE was going to know the answer, it would be here in geek speek.... so we'll see.... perhaps the fact that no-one has replied, means it's a defacto "no' answer anyway.... ah well.

Cheers

hello rae! i don''t know about the rss feed....you can send a private message to leonid and ask him about it though.
there is a way to check the most recent posts....just click on the ''posted today'' heading on the top bar across from the log in.

I think the new picture gallery has a rss feed, but I haven''t noticed one for the forum?

We''ll do it in a couple of week.

You trying to drive poor Ms Pricescope Administrator NUTS?

Garry, RSS is just a format for the news aggregators, which allow you to collect, organize and filter news from different sources (politics, business, technology, etc). See e.g. http://www.cnn.com/services/rss/

E.g. using a news aggregator (or rss aggregator) allows to filter the news/blogs by specific key words vs searching each news source manually.

We have three type of RSS feeds for now: today''s topics, forum'' rss (for each particular forum), and topic rss (for each topic). (Look for the orange RSS button on each forum or topic pages).

For instance, someone might only want to read posts about "cut grading system" from RT. You can set up your aggregator to do it for you.

There are many different aggregators now both free and not, stand alone programs and web-based or integrated to the browsers or MS Outlook.

That is easy even without RSS. Just click on your avatar icon to open the ''user profile'' and then go under ''list all post by this user''. You can access the relevant thread from each post

This is not feasible from the ''Personal Section'', although one might think that it is that page that aggregates all there is to know and do about one''s posts.

Same goes for any poster''s profile: you can track down their posts accross all forums as well.
