Producer Michael video on gems at LA Natural History museum

Thank you @T L

We went to see it a couple of weeks ago, I wish we'd had those guys as tour guides!

Thank you @T L. I just wish I could see them in daylight - the colors must be exquisite!

Yes, @T L the emeralds did not photo at all well in the video, they were mind blowingly beautiful in real life.

It’s so hard to find decent gem material on YouTube. I’m a bit disappointed with the video quality, but I thought I’d post it because it’s what we have. Surprisingly, there is little to no gem footage of the yearly Tucson shows. There’s only healing crystal and mineral footage, but no footage of cut, faceted, transparent, spectacular gems.

Me too ... that lighting (bright spotlighting of displays in an otherwise dark room is every videographer's worst nightmare. :knockout:

With still photography you can adjust the camera settings to optimize the light getting into the camera for each still pic.
But here the camera operator has to move from bright to dark while shooting a continuous scene, and the camera isn't fast enough to automatically compensate.

Also human faces and gems both are particularly sensitive to being lit well or poorly.
Often the faces were too bright and the gems too dark.

But still, it was a treat to see such fine baubles.
I really need to get my butt over to see these.
