Professional Cleaning

I bring my ring and earrings in for professional cleaning/polishing every 6 months. They also check to make sure the prongs/diamond is ok. For those of you who bought rings from an online jeweler, where do you get your ring professionally cleaned? Or do you just clean it yourself? If you brought it in to a local jeweler, do you know how much they would charge?

I didn''t buy my ring online, but we did get it from out of state. Most jewelers are more than willing to clean and check your ring every six months free of charge or for a nominal fee.

My jeweler cleans and checks the ring free of charge even though I did not buy the ring from him. It is always good to find a local jeweler and develop a good relationship with them, because who knows if something minor happens to the ring, it may be best to get it fixed locally.

I found a new jeweler recently that I entrusted with a little alteration on my ering. He did a great job. The jeweler that made the ring originally is about 10 miles away from this new guy. That place pissed me off several times so I felt the need to start searching for a new one. Some places charge to steam clean and polish your ring if you don't buy from them, regardless of the situation. Id think they would want your business in the future so I don't get why they would do that...but then again, they don't know if youll ever come back.

Everytime I walk into a jewelry store I feel like the sales people BEG me to let them clean my ring. I have never been charged. I agree that they are trying to build a relationship with you so you will buy from them in the future.

I guess the most important thing is finding a jeweler you trust.
